Rolex 1680

I took a chance on a $35 M2M 1680 with movement problems. Turned out to have a rubber crown gasket loose in the movement.

That will make it run erratically

On disassembly it turned out to be a puretime version with the plastic gasket. Eh. Not the end of the world. I took it completely apart, cleaned it ultrasonically. Drilled out the lugs, eased the edges of the case, polished it. The dial looks like someone aged it by baking it in an oven, it looks ok. Crystal was pretty scratched and pitted so I wet sanded it and polished it. Installed gen spec springbars and put it back together. Running great now!
