Stealthking 0 Posted September 18, 2016 Well, what can I say.... a few months after my first foray into the rep world and now I need another fix.... LOL After reading some of the other members speak of "Addictions", I can now appreciate what they all meant. This time it will be a Grand Carrera Calibre 36, but I am somewhat curious about quite a few articles I have read on this site re the 7750 movement that is used in these rep watches. I suppose I had looked into the purchase of the Calibre 36 and really got attached to the way it looked before I had read anything about the reliability of the Asian 7750 movement. So I'm somewhat hooked regardless what I have read about its reliability...?? That being said, most of those articles were done around 2014-2015..... would anyone out there know if the new/current generations of the rep Calibre 36 with the A7750 movement would have similar issues around reliability or would those issues have been nutted out over the last 12-24 months...? By the way, getting the watch from Mary and I must admit, her service and follow up has been exemplary so far..... clearly with the moon festival, I had to exercise a whole lot of patience but cant wait to get the QC pictures..... Will post some pics as soon as I get that gem around my wrist...
gavmeister 1 Posted September 18, 2016 As many good articles as bad on the A7750. Of course more people will voice their complaint than will say how delighted they are with it. My recent purchases suggest that on balance you'll get a decent one first up, but if not send it back for repair or replacement. This is why we have TD's. Marcoman 0 Posted September 18, 2016 I had a similar query on my first rep purchase so take a look at my recent topic whereby i got plenty of good feedback from people....
GenTLe 1,509 Posted September 18, 2016 7750 now in my view are ok. Even the new IWC sec@6, in which they reduced from 5 (one unjeweled) to 1 (jeweled) the sec transfer gears. What I do NOT like of them is that, unlike the eta clones, only few gen spare parts will fit in it. They can be a bit temperamental if not serviced and require a bit of care (like avoiding to play too much with the Chrono, don't reset if the chrono is running, taking care to the date change timing etc) but overall I have 18 of them (not counting the non-chrono 7750 in the auto Panerais) and had troubles with just 3 of them.
