sjb 0 Posted March 7, 2011 I am going to Korea next month,& wondering if & where I can pick up reps? Staying in Seoul for a few days, must be somewhere there?
Balad1 0 Posted March 7, 2011 I've been in Seoul 9 or 10 times and know the Itiwan shopping district (knock off capital) quite well. Buying decent reps there will be difficult because they are illegal and anyone selling them is underground. I've bought a few there in the past and they were poor quality. If you know your reps very well you could ask and see what they bring from the back room otherwise buy from a trusted dealer here. PS: The area is better known for custom tailored suits/clothes, leather coats/jackets, handbags, mink blankets and whores (Hooker Hill in Itiwan).
RolexAddict 1 Posted March 7, 2011 I spend a few hours in KSI (Incheon) last month, didn't go out, was to short. In 1983 I have spent many time there, we stayed in the Lotte hotel, many shops arround. Have seen many Leica camera reps but no watches. Last month in Phuket some dealers told me some of their reps now came from South Korea and use both Myota and eta movements, should be interesting to investigate

prestigewatchco 2 Posted March 7, 2011 If you go you need to go up the North East of the country near the Tumen River (almost in Russia) you can't miss it there are sign posts every where it's called the rep supermarket. You will find not only low end but top end watches there AP's at 12 direct from factory Cartier Santos the ultimates not to mention Panerai that have not been seen on the forums with Panerai copy movements 1-1 and nothing is more than $70-$90. Just a little advice though you need to be careful up there as the road is littered with land mines But taking pictures is encouraged so worth the risk to post pictures for the members and just think you can do a review that no one else has done risking getting blown up is a small price to pay for such an opportunity

SirDomino 0 Posted March 7, 2011 So it is a real place? Why the South Korean flag on that building?
Balad1 0 Posted March 7, 2011 So it is a real place? Why the South Korean flag on that building? I guess because most of the people on the tour are SK and Americans. Edit. Oh that building? Border crossing and customs check point.
watcher63 0 Posted March 8, 2011 I live in Itaewon. I bought a rep once here and it really sucked!!! I was not educated at the time and would have laughed in their face, if i knew then what I know now. I never really tried to buy another one here, since I had such a bad experience. But, after living here for a long time, I can tell you it will be very hard to find anything of "quality". However, There are really nice leather goods and nice tailor made shirts and suits. I had a rep I ordered from China caught by customs and luckily, they just sent it back. I had it resent to my dad in LA no prob. He's going to ship it once my other watch arrives. It's a pain in the ass, but the Koreans are hard asses about competition in in their rep market. Stick to the dealers here man, and get a nice shirt made or something.
