NCRich 13,714 Posted December 16, 2016 I had been wanting to build a Space Dweller for a long time, but I didn't really know where to begin. It is really hard to find a decent 1016 with drilled lugs from a dealer and alls the build I saw with JMB case sets were just too expensive to justify buying to mod. Finally I got found an older version 1016 with 2824 ETA on M2M for a good price so I could start. Getting a dial was the big issue. I asked Tripdog (who knows these things) what my options were and they were Yuki, some dude in Vietnam, ebay, and Helenarou. After some research on my part the Yuki and ebay dials had feet in gen locations and the size was wrong for my case. I really didn't want to molest a dial that I spent a lot of money on. After talking with Helenarou I felt comfortable with having them create the dial. Sent pic, got proofs, got pics, finally sent. About 1.5 months, not that bad. Custom dial, right feet location, correct diameter. So the dial arrives: I drilled the lugs to the right diameter and did a little case modification. Trimmed the springbars and rounded over the ends. Looks good macro. I wanted a slightly domed plexi. The original Tropic 22 plexis that would have come on this were domed. Somewhere in the 1980ish time frame the T22 was switched to a flat top plexi with beveled edge. So all the older ones that have been serviced have that on them. I decided to go with a Tropic 21 (vintage daytona plexi) which is about the same size but has the dome look. I think it works well. Modded the bracelet to fit. Very clean looking watch which is what I wanted. I'm really happy with this. Now to pics.

Seembaheemba 0 Posted April 13, 2019 Agreed, the history is one thing, but the beauty is also another. Does anyone know how to mod the seconds hand in order to taper it down as per gen?
itgoes211 0 Posted September 1, 2019 Geez, again, awesome. I like the relative uniqueness of the choice. And that lume-job on your new dial... super smooth. Do you think they apply the lume via rubber-ball pad print method? If hand-applied, that’s some serious zen artistry.
