Slim 0 Posted March 17, 2011 This is a link to a PO auction on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Omega-Seamaster-Plan...088741417902284 Not considering buying it myself but someone on another forum I inhabit from time to time is considering it .. trouble is despite the box and accompanying stuff, it doesn't look quite right to me - something about the finish makes me think it might be a replica. What do you think?
Akira 0 Posted March 17, 2011 Pearl screams rep !!! Not sure about the HEvalve, looks wrong to me. I'd say rep!
Del 4,514 Posted March 17, 2011 I'm not an Omega expert but I can't see anything wrong with this. The photos are not large enough or high enough resolution to see the detail of the pearl - might just be the light that is making it look slightly wrong. The story about buying from Ernest Jones seems reasonable but I'd never buy anything like that from Ebay in any case - buyer beware!
Ska 11 Posted March 17, 2011 REP. The pearl placement is wrong, and its green. The pearl on the gen is as white as the numerals. HE Valve should stick out more That box is fake. The leather card wallet in genuine Omega box-sets is red not white. I have exactly the same set (but with the leather-bound box rather than the wood effect one) He's probably just stamped the Serial No. from the rep onto the cards. T9000 0 Posted March 17, 2011 My Narikaa Omega PO looks more convincing than that, especially the He valve. It's also interesting to note that the guy is selling a 2000-model BMW 318i, which for some reason he believes has 170 BHP, rather than the 118 BHP it actually left the factory with... Slim 0 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the replies! eBay's like a tank full of piranhas these days. It does really piss me off because I might want to sell a watch or two myself on there, and a lot of potential buyers are put off by the jokers.
turnipz 0 Posted March 17, 2011 I've found reporting does nothing, even if the listing says its a replica.

coolroy 0 Posted March 18, 2011 I've found reporting does nothing, even if the listing says its a replica. Has anyone here notified EBay & actually had ebay act accordingly?

Akira 0 Posted March 18, 2011 Best way to stop it is to mail Omega or send the seller an message, tell him you know it's a rep and you will induce legal actions if he sells the watch Worked!
Slim 0 Posted March 18, 2011 The listing has been removed now, fortunately. Someone has been spared a nasty surprise, there I think. Thanks for all the replies.
bme 4 Posted March 18, 2011 That was quick. I reported and sent the seller a message to which the scumbag replied protetsing his innocence saying it must be real as he bought it from Ernest Jones. It was such an obvious copy though and I'm pleased we saved someone's hard earned.
