wowsasb 8 Posted March 9, 2017 Potential M2M deal here. I am trying to figure out how to do a trade with a gent from Iceland. Apparently Iceland customs are very strict. Are there any suggestions as to how to do this without too much fuss and cost? It seems like trying to do it straight through any regular old shipping methods probably won't work. chickenflex 0 Posted March 9, 2017 Icelandic customs are not strict in the sense that they are seizing packages, they often do require a receipt showing how much was paid for the item in order to calculate the applicable VAT. Labelling the item as a "gift" will do nothing in 99% of cases. However, sending the item as an untracked letter, if possible, seems to avoid customs most of the time (my experience) but that method is not without risk. Seeing that this is a trade (equal value?) I think the best course of action would just be for him to contact the Icelandic post office and check how one should proceed in this case - he is trading one item for another of equal value and what he should do when the item arrives. Generic question that should get a response.
