NCRich 13,780 Posted March 20, 2017 OK so I've got this 1665 that is trying its best to kick my ass. Its some funky case, supposedly cartel, that I've never seen, keyless screwed when I pulled the stem, the plexi was disintegrated beneath the bezel, the threads are wrong for an Athaya crown, and insult to injury the bastard seconds hand was glued on the 2836. So I can take care of all the rest but I've got this: Prior to stripping it to that I heated the sec hand with a soldering iron and tried to lever it off (a long time). Finally the hand popped off the barrel. Any ideas? Rest of the movement is fine, I haven't destroyed anything yet. I guess I'd need a new 4th wheel? Anyone got a spare one laying around? Or a trashed movement with one? Hate to just toss the movement.

onzenuub 308 Posted March 20, 2017 If you don't need the movement in the future ask SSteel.
Haltec 0 Posted March 20, 2017 Heat with soldering iron again. This time put some solder blob on it. It MUST fall off. Next solution is dremel + 20x40x stereoscopic microscope.
Jibuti 958 Posted March 20, 2017 If you don't need the movement in the future ask SSteel. good idea. he will sell it as LNIB SE.... and charge 650 bux 4 it.
austinsom 47 Posted March 20, 2017 High explosives Something like this should do the job
GenTLe 1,509 Posted March 20, 2017 I heard cartel ones sometimes are like that. JKFactory are the ones to get for modding. If I was you I'd create some support (alluminium) so that putting the movement face down in a jar with some acetone inside the movement stays not in contact with the liquid except for the pinion. Acetone can soft even cyanoacrylate so if they used that one it should help.

NCRich 13,780 Posted March 21, 2017 So, not sure whether it was the heat, the acetone, or the levers. But I got it off.
