addibegi 0 Posted March 28, 2017 Hi Just a simple question for the noobie I'm : what is the best mechanism for a replica : asian quartz or valjoux? By best i mean the best reliable in terms of quality and durability. Waiting for your answers
Genius 281 Posted March 28, 2017 Miyota quartz is probably the best (reliable in terms of quality and durability) you can get in a rep But quartz is shit, dont buy one, buy something complicated and fragile instead

dalboy 2 Posted March 28, 2017 Reliability will always be an issue with a Rep , certain gens too . A lot depends on your choice , the more complications you choose in a rep the less reliable it will prove to be . In contradiction to the above I have reps that are 20 + years old and still running fine . Any mechanical watch movement will only be improved by having it serviced. Dal. AJB2 0 Posted March 29, 2017 OP...I'm pretty new to this lark too BUT the only way to find an answer to your question is, unfortunately, taking the time to read. I think it's down to personal preference & the dealer you use. I used Andrew at Trusty Time. One of my watches broke, I contacted him, sent him some photo's & he now has it back for repair. I think with any movement, it's a gamble you take with a rep...Just make sure your choice of dealer is one that will help if things go wrong. Oh, & as said above...the less complications the better. Del 4,463 Posted March 29, 2017 Another consideration is where you would get a rep mechinical movement serviced or repaired when required - most high-street watch repairers will not touch reps so it may be that you are restricted to using repairers on the rep forums (trusted or otherwise). This is not necessarily an issue but it can be less convenient and contain an element of risk.
Pazzaar 0 Posted March 29, 2017 Only quartz rep I've had was a reverso which works and looks brilliant. Other than that it's all autos and I try to stay away from 7750 reps, never had any problems with 2824 reps but it's a game of hit and miss
gran 198 Posted March 29, 2017 Asian venus 175 best there is
Monkey_Business 0 Posted March 29, 2017 The harmonics in this thread is utterly disturbing. But yes, I'm backing gran. Undoubtfully the most reliable mechanical movement.
2fake4u 0 Posted March 29, 2017 Asian 7750 as long as you change the date between 9 and 3 while the chrono function is running and pressing the reset button at the same time. This hardens the movement into the strongest chrono movement known to mankind.
Rx4Time 1,472 Posted March 29, 2017 Asian 7750 as long as you change the date between 9 and 3 while the chrono function is running and pressing the reset button at the same time. This hardens the movement into the strongest chrono movement known to mankind. Assuming the movement survives this "procedure" LOL. Best not to confuse the newcomers. It could be an expensive lesson.
