alvinado 0 Posted March 23, 2011 THis tutorial was done up by my partner , Gareth at w@tchlume, and i thought I'll share the knowledge here. As the title stated, this step will ensure if you have a world class relume or just a substandard one. Step 1 : Dial and base plate THe cruz here is to make base plate as smooth as possible, i have applied acetone to remove all the paint from the base plate and then polish it with a dremel Step 2: Use a matte laquer to spray both the dial and the base plate. The dial for a great looking matte finish and the base plate to make it rough so white paint can be easily applied. Base plate after treatment Dial after treatment Step 3: Spray the baseplate white Step 4: Strip the lume from the underside of the hands Step 5: Use only w@tchlume's lume (just joking:) ) remember for the lume mixture a 50/50 binder to lume ratio is recommended. Step 6: Relume the hands and dial For the hands , apply from the underside and slowly "pull' the lume through the length, it should take some time to get it right, but it is not rocket science and can be done with some practice For dial relume, fill up the indices, you got 20 mins to work with the lume bfore it dries, do not fret , you can add more binder and lume to give you more working time. Final Result! Basically this method can be used for any relumes, especially for sandwich dials but the technique is similar for all watch relumes! Enjoy luming! Ska 11 Posted March 23, 2011 Hey mate! Fantastic tutorial. Just one question. I've seen a couple of those recessed base-plates now in a few threads but I've dealt with a large number of Pams and never come across one in person. Do you source them yourself or do they just come from a specific factory/model? All the best Ska

alvinado 0 Posted March 23, 2011 and one more thing, if you guys do not want to paint the base white, use a layer of c1 or Wl-WG, than coat the layer with c3 or gmax. Before Modding After Modding
