Diver Dave 0 Posted July 12, 2017 FFS... help the guy out. Noob: Find a photo of what you want, send it to one of the TD's (pick one, I use Mary, but just friggin' pick one), and ask what he/she can find in that model. You'll get an answer in a few days. If you like it, pay for it and then in a few more days you'll get pictures of the exact one they have bought for you (that's how it works, they use YOUR money to go find a watch and they buy it FOR YOU). If you accept it, they mail it, and you get it. Don't make it more complex than that. And stay away from gold plated anything. You would look like shit wearing a real gold Rolex. You'll look worse with a shiny rep. But the stainless steel ones can be damned good
Rx4Time 1,472 Posted July 12, 2017 Quite simply, noboby here can know which flaws will be acceptable to you and therefore cannot make a solid recommendation. This is why you are told to read up and learn the flaws to see if you can live with them. Personally, I think a gold rep is a bad choice as the gold tone is often off vs gen and one scratch showing the base metal and your watch is garbage as there is a big tell staring at you. You can consider wrapped to get a thicker gold coating so it's more durable and unlikely to wear through the plating, but even wrapping has it's limitations. Stick with a good solid BP datejust and enjoy. You want gold, get a wrapped two tone. You get some gold and the cost is still fairly reasonable, plus it's mostly steel so less surface area to damage the gold wrap.
