Del 4,530 Posted March 27, 2011 I have admired AP Royal Oak Offshores for sometime but was never quite sure what model to choose - I had mainly been looking at chrono versions and nearly ordered Robert's seconds at 12 quartz AP ROO Safari but I just wasn't sure. When he listed this AP ROO Diver with 21j movement I just couldn't resist - it is right up my street this one . I'm blown away with this - it is absolutely stunning! It's a heavy watch but doesn't wear any bigger than a DSSD imho. So, on to the brief review... The Listing AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver Asian 21J automatic smooth sweep Sapphire crystal Rubber band with tang buckle $129 + shipping The Order White face AP ROO Diver Ordered on 11th March Paid for by bank transfer on 11th March (Mix up delayed shipping - no big issue and Robert kindly sent by EMS at no extra cost, along with the blue SOSF I bought a week later so it was a bonus to get this quicker than expected ) Shipped on 21st March Received on 24th March (Superfast delivery by EMS Thailand!) The Package Padded envelope Watch was wrapped in several turns of bubble wrap Watch was contained within two clear plastic bags The Watch No visable marks or flaws Face, hands and markers all look perfect The crystal is super-clear and the dial is crisp Movement had started running when removed from packaging The sweep is possibly smoother than my other 21j autos but it's marginal imo (see video below ) The rubberised crown unscrewed easily and the short hand wind was smooth Crown pulled out positively to both first and second positions Time and date set with no issues (initial time check a few hours later indicated good timekeeping) Rotor spins freely and is not overly noisy Interior bezel rotates with rubberised button at 10 o'clock Lume is reasonable but not outstanding The rubber band is excellent quality The Pictures Video of sweep

GC 4,543 Posted March 27, 2011 I'm really like'n this version!!! You sir, are a lucky SOB for snag'n one! I might just follow in your foot steps btw: superb photos Del...beautifully crisp & clear! one question, the crown @10 (for the inner bezel), does it screw down/click i.e. disengage the moving of the inner bezel, or does it move freely? Thanks GC The crown @ 10 just rotates freely (as does the inner bezel along with it) - no clicks, no screw down. I was actually surprised that you just turned it without much resistance or clicking - no idea what the gen is like but if you're a diver (wearing the gen) I'm guessing you wouldn't want it to turn easily after you'd set your dive time . Don't get me wrong, it doesn't turn by itself but if it brushed against your sleeve, for example, it might nudge it round a little (I've not worn it enough times yet to properly advise on this particular point though). Member X 91 Posted March 28, 2011 I think I posted a link on RWI to a review of the gen of this (black dial as the white dial is technically a fantasy dial, but a pretty one ) and someone pointed out the movement in the gen is 21.6k bph (!) so the A21j versions are probably more accurate sweep! Luthier 1 Posted March 28, 2011 Yes, gen. has 21,600 bph, and 60 hours power reserve, 40 jewels. Great watch, Del, I have the same, but with clone ETA and SS bracelet. One of my favs for now.

Baldrick 1 Posted March 28, 2011 I think a wee call to Pitt Street might engender some interest in your activities, you're buying way too many reps for a Weegie in a regular job, either that or drop a wee line to her indoors, I know which is worse

wat44 0 Posted March 28, 2011 I saw a guy with a sub no date rep on the train the other day, well I say train - he was on the train going the opposite way to my train... It was in a tunnel that we passed, but the lume and the sweep gave it away definately a rep
