Internet sites, the law, reps, and life in general

Recommended Posts

wat44

in recent times, I have seen much higher than usual levels of problems on websites related to fake watches.

Lay, geeks, RWGfine, pefect clones PAM, Andrew ditto, silix, house of souvineers,

et cetera

is something afoot?

something we should be worried about?

will it get harder to buy reps?

It is the end of days and even rep sites are being hit by a tsunami and affected by nuclear meltdowns. So it is part of the crescendo leading us to 2012.

Good question, maybe someone who is a computer programer wiz could shed light on the recent events in our hobby.

With so many dealers having their sites attacked or hacked I'm thinking that it must be more then bad luck. Whatever it is seems pretty effective and sophisticated. I am worried about our hobby and the continued availability of our reps.

My guess is it is similar to what the RIAA did with songs and limewire/etc... put corrupted songs out there so when you're sitting there downloading the newest lil wayne album, you get garbled shit.. even more so than lil wayne's usual stuff

in other words, it could be the big boys (rolex etc) paying someone to do some dirty work.. all off the books of course, as hacking websites is illegal..

it's either that or one hacker/group doing it to all of them.. very unlikely that completely unrelated groups are hacking different websites of a similar category (rep watches) at the same time..

this is all speculation..

I´m right where the source and the triangle you can see is the Watch City (Guangzhou)

1241671919_03282011_1.png

Only street vendors are complaining about the police controls, the online dealers have already built an underground source, hidden from the public scene, I think the bad days will come when chinese government decides to take serious actions at customs, if they make proper inspection twice a week randomly, (like reps caught destroyed) we´re lost... We have a few years more left, who knows, a good percent of the city and regions population is making a living from this industry with the foreigners money, so it´s not the local governments interest to shot this down, but that day will come..

Yup, there is something coming, they are getting organized.

I suggest we make a coordinated strike, on several continents, against the manufacturers. We send a fucking message, and we send it now. You fuck with us and you are going to get hurt.

Good thinking John!

I presume you'll do your usual and flood them with particularly disgusting gay porn? ;)

Late this afternoon I started getting a few spam e-mails, all with subjects related to discounted Rolex, Omega, Panerai, etc. watches. Obviously didn't click on the link in the e-mails, but the links all went to some type of file location that looked like a virus or worm related. This was the same contact e-mail I use for my RWI, RG and RWGjr accounts. Coincidence this happens within a day of all three of those sites getting attacked by an unknown source? Was any member contact details compromised?

This happen to anyone else...?

I've been getting these for years, actually. One of my email addresses is fifteen years old, so it gets spammed like nothing you've ever seen before. B)

I've gotten spam for years as well. My comments were specific to a large volume of watch specific spam with virus links, all within a day of the coordinated attacks on RWI/RG/RWGjr...

Agree, something is weird- RWG is back but was attacked. RG is still down - for me at least and I can't seem to log on to any 'cartel'

dealer sites, including PureTime. Josh did mention problems from the earthquake.

Note: RG is currently under a large DDOS attack, trying to get back online. Looks like the rep wars are

starting.

GBOGH: DDoS attacks are one thing. Getting access to the member database is another proposition entirely. If the member list had been compromised, I suspect a lot more folks would be complaining about spam by now. I guess we'll have to wait and see to be sure, though.

By the way, we still don't know whether RWI was attacked or whether it was just a server barf (we had one of those ourselves last week and were offline for a few minutes - would have been a lot longer, but i was logged in at the time so was able to react immediately).

If China starts watching its replica market it will move to Indonesia, Malaysia or India. It will take time for it to rebuild and reorganize but as long as we here provide the demand they need, the market will survive.
