ERROR404 18 Posted July 7, 2017 Bought this gem on Ebay: Accutron 214 I know, I know... not a looker, but it's what it's inside what counts. If you are not familiar with the 214 movement, take a look at this video of the ultra slick sweeping second hand. The watch is okay... but the model that I'm really after is the spaceview model. The spaceview model started as Dealer Display model. The watch did not have a dial so it could show all the innerworkings of the new state of the art technology know a the tuning fork movement. From what I understand, the dealer did the conversion themselves. Then somehow, people started liking the spaceview so much, that they started buying the dealer display models and Bulova started producing them for the general public. You can read more here: http://www.accutron2...viewhistory.htm Anyway, I'm not a Bulova dealer, so I'm not sure if doing the conversion myself would make the watch a fake, a franken, or what... lol Here is the part list: New gaskets New white hands new spacer and new glass with the spaceview markings I'm not sure why, but I always have "need" to mess up with stuff and do the work myself (which means that I always end up braking as many things as I fix). Measuring the crystal to buy the right size... The only place that I found takes 20-30 to ship to US. I also watched a whole video on how to take apart the watch and it really scared the living thing out of me when they mentioned how delicate the gear for the seconds hand was. Just moving the second hand one second is enough to rotate the gear 5 times and damage it!!! With the most care in the world I took the hands out and tried reinstalling the new white hands. I tried for a very long time to install the hour hands, but I couldn't!!! my hands were shaking, I kept trying to push it in and it wouldn't go. At that point decided, that I if couldn't put the hour hand with surgical precision, there's no way that I could install the second hand without damaging the movement, so I took it to a watch smith.... ...and it turned out the hour hand was out of spec (too small) Here is the watch (waiting on the crystal) After a long wait, the Crystal arrived, it was a 29.5mm and guess what..... I messed up!! first crystal that I break. Now I need to wait another month!!!! I will keep you posted when I'm done

ERROR404 18 Posted July 9, 2017 Thanks! I forgot to include in my list a 1.35 volt battery from http://www.esslinger.com/ They don't sell these batteries anymore, so you have to go to a specialized place like esslinger. They take a 1.55 volt battery and convert them to the correct specs. There's also a conversion that you can do to the watch too.
ERROR404 18 Posted July 21, 2017 As of last night, the conversion is done!
