How about a technical challenge? For tech savvy ONLY..!

so,

I have this watch... it ticks, keeps time.... date changes, manually winds and automatically, nice power reserve....

but it has a minute hand that has a slight play; loose but only by a millimeter...

if you nudge it gently, the minute hand flicks back and forth by  millimeter or two.

Damn.... what do I do now....

Well... this morning I got the idea to tighten the crown in really tight.... like...so tight, you cannot turn it anymore....

I place it on the table for a while, spend the day with it on my wrist....

what happens??

the minute hand has NO MORE PLAY, ITS TIGHT, WORKS PERFECTLY.....

what the hell does that all mean???

The stem is slightly too short and is not allowing the setting mechanism to fully disengage when pushed in normally.

A replacement stem about 1mm longer would be the cure.  Or slightly unthreading it from the crown and using some loctite on the threads to keep it held in the newly extended position.
