I thought I posted this for a second Haha, I've used this avatar ever since I signed up at this forum, sorry but it's true that I'm not as active here as much as I used to be, I kinda quit reps in 2015 but always keep coming back.. 2 hours ago, splke said: buy what ever you want bud but be very careful buying a rep from an unknown source. he can send you all the pics he likes but you cannot guarantee that it will be the same watch when it lands That's why I'm picking up the watch in person if we make a deal, I didn't intend on having the watch shipped to me per post. iabounty 8 Posted September 13, 2017 Congratulations on your graduation! As far as what watch to buy, If you want a rep. buy a rep, from a TD here and be prepared for the movement not to last forever and need replacing at some point with everyday use. Check into a watch repairman in your area or or watch the how to videos and threads and buy the tools so you can do it yourself. A sore point now, the avatar issue. RepGuy has been a member here longer than you, but who had the avatar first? I agree one of you guys need to change..... Maybe use onze avatar instead......... LightGeek 25 Posted September 13, 2017 I didn't read anything other than the title. Not a good idea... how about a Seiko Presage? Get something that will last you for until you spring for the real thing... vintage or preowned is fine too!
Jibuti 958 Posted September 13, 2017 I can jump quickly over few borders and check with you if that is really Swiss one.... though it will be not...
morino 2 Posted September 14, 2017 (edited) Firstly, thanks everyone for all the congratulations! The seller got back to me and sent me some pics, however, he says that the watch has a problem when setting the date so there's definitely something wrong with its mechanism and I'm not buying it. Still posting some pics though, so you guys can see what we were talking about the whole time. I want to thank you guys for all the help so far and am looking forward to all the upcoming suggestions about which watch I should buy in the end. I'll obviously stay on a look out for a nice Sub, but will definitely consider other pieces too. Cheers, Marko Edited September 14, 2017 by morino

splke 4,388 Posted September 14, 2017 that looks a nice example to me if it is indeed the watch he has in hand ! No movement shots which if you are buying a stated swiss then i would want to see before trecking 100 + miles. Good luck bud it is a minefield without the protection of the forum

morino 2 Posted October 6, 2017 (edited) So, just to let you know guys, this is what I ended up with. Have it for approx 2 weeks now and am absolutely in love with it. 36mm in diameter and it feels great on my wrist, even though I was primarily used to wearing at least 40mm. Looks pretty much like a Datejust to me, a real stunner. My parents even had it engraved for me, it says ''To our son Marko at his graduation''. Dendo 93 Posted October 6, 2017 Phew - so glad you ended up with a gen for a milestone event......this rep thing was going to end in tears and would not be the way to celebrate and mark a big event. Nice watch...is it really 36mm? Not sure I could wear a watch so small..
morino 2 Posted October 6, 2017 I'm glad too, nothing beats a gen watch at the end of the day, so it was the only reasonable choice and yes, it's a 36mm. The funny thing is when I first saw it in person and put it on my wrist, I immediately thought how small it is. Got used to it with time though and it really sits nicely on my wrist
morino 2 Posted October 6, 2017 A link to where I found out about it and then went to pick it up personally in Ljubljana. https://www.stentime.si/rocne-ure/seiko-5/XSNK135K1
Foxindebox 465 Posted October 6, 2017 It'll probably last until you get your retirement watch (without a service too...)
NFleischer 4,355 Posted October 7, 2017 Congrats, smart choice! I agree - important events require Gen IMO. Last year, my GF had a baby girl. To celebrate she bought me this Undone custom watch with engraving- $350 It's very special to me.
