Undinist 20 Posted September 20, 2017 I've been trying to find this out by searching but I got so confused by the different factories and movements and their pros and cons. Can someone pls help me out? Maybe you need to send the watch to be serviced if you really want to use the chrono as if it were a gen, and have the subdial hands line up properly when you zero them? Or is it all a bit of a lottery? Oh, and I don't mind if the case is too thick, but I would quite like it to be the right width.

It's not fully functional, and knowing Chinese marketing bollocks it might not even be 904l Basically with the Daytona you can have reliable (frozen big second and no chrono) or fully functional (sec at 6 modified 7750) you don't get both together
Undinist 20 Posted September 20, 2017 What if you buy option 2 and send it to watchrepairsuk?
deju 1,874 Posted September 20, 2017 I’ll be honest, after the DD40 escapades, I don’t think you’d be happy with any Daytona rep, I know that the flaws even piss me off literally the Newman is a grail, so I’m gutted. My advice is buy the Steinhart homage... amazing Gen sub a £1k.
Undinist 20 Posted September 20, 2017 But I love my Noob DD40! If the dealer had sent what I asked for I would never have had any gripes! I just wish I had originally gone with Toro Bravo.
Monkey_Business 0 Posted September 20, 2017 I ordered the Yellow Gold version of the "902" Daytona. The modified A7750 has removed some geartrains and whatnot to make it slimmer. Makers claims it's more stable, and it's used in many IWC with @6 seconds with no severely reported issues. The minute and hour counter of the chronograph does not work, but the seconds hand moves around at least..

Perhaps you mean the so-called super clones which are supposedly made of 904L steel? Would you mind linking to what you bought?

Mary Watch 204 Posted September 21, 2017 "904s" version with full function movement, i didn't hear this in market. if you want to use a daytona forever, it is impossible. if you just want to play it for a few months, you can have a try the version with A7750. maybe it can last 1~2 years, but this depend on if you are a lucky guy. or you can think of the vintage daytona with ST 19 movment which is manual movement, it is very reliable. SteveA 308 Posted September 21, 2017 You could be lucky with the 7750 but they are thick.Ive been running a 7750 Bertie SA from Mary for four years but don't use the chronograph.
tonyh7 237 Posted September 21, 2017 Of course there are Daytona reps with fully functional chronos. They are all quartzers.
Undinist 20 Posted September 21, 2017 Hmmm. I've just ordered a gold sub to slake my thirst. But sooner or later I will be compelled to buy a 7750 Tona and hammer the pushers day and night. I can't help myself. I love you and nobody else.

k3rm87 180 Posted September 22, 2017 (edited) My secs @6 Daytona a7750 crapped out in 3 months, (I did use the chrono a fair bit though). I have another mate with a newer 7750 Daytona, it's now a hand-wind. I think it's pretty safe to say that they are unreliable. Monkey_Business 0 Posted September 22, 2017 I wanted the RG more, but it's not released by the factory yet, so the wait for that one is far longer. If the estimates about the 4130 clone movement coming out next year, I'll go ahead and get one of those with RG case and chocolate dial
