swiss 9238 movement - experiences??

Recommended Posts

millerjohn

Hi,

I am about to buy a Ladies Omega speedmaster from Mary. According to her it has a swiss 9238 mechanic movement. Does anyone have experience with this movement? Is it reliable?

Problem is, I can't find anything on this movement in the forum or on the web - only about a 9238 quartz movement.

This is probably a typical noob's question, but I would really appreciate some guidance :)

Thanks!

John

No link to the watch, I asked Mary per mail wether she had such a watch and she found it for me.

I think Mary's confused. The only Swiss 9238 movement that Google shows is a quartz.

Generally, quartz movements are more suitable for women anyway. Most don't like the hassle of re-setting automatics.

This woman is different! :)

...and she wants a mechanic one.... Oh my god, I might fall in love again.

Mary was adamant in her last email that it was mechanic not quartz - what do you suggest? Should I write her about my confusion?

Yes, I'd query it with her. The 9238 is definitely quartz - if it's an auto movement, it's something else...

Send her a link to the website with the details of it being quartz, and perhaps get her to send a photo of the movement if possible!

Mary knows the difference between quartz and auto, but, maybe, she got the number of mov't model wrong. Factory could give her a wrong number.
