Ska's Custom Watch Project.

the watch Looks Great IMHO I would make it a GMT Model I have found a company that can make the Dial in Germany just that the cost will be quiet high

I have also found a way to make Steel numbers with pins in the back just like Rolex does you can rout out the numbers on a solid block of Steel cast them with steel then you can smoothen them out its very easy and them comes the Luming Process

Ok guys, here's Version 1.1

  • Correct case interior to accept an ETA 2834-2 with gaskets, movement ring etc.
  • Modified caseback incoroporating the lugs.
  • New Logo and Removal of Brand from Dial
  • New Lug Design
  • Sharpened Bezel Edges and reduced profile
  • Ceramic/DLC coated Case

Ok Pics and a short (very rough) motion study.

Wow! Great animation and drawings! Its definitely moving in the right direction :) Very interesting case construction as well. What did you do the Animation in?

I think Andy's suggestions about softening the lugs a bit and raising (Dome?) the crystal would make it even better.

Much better. But to be a real pain, I think the crystal needs to be even higher :)

V2 looks good, like it! What size is this, could not find that anywhere..

How about a bigger date window, ala super ocean heritage? :)

Its 43mm, (and the Date window is the same size as the SOH by the way)

Is this project still running, I think the design is fab? I love fixed lugs, I would have fixed lugs on all my watches if some didn't benefit from a steel or otherwise bracelet. Keep us updated!

This is an amazing project Ska.

Where was I in April and how did I miss this great thread?

The design looks beautiful.

Very creative and I can't wait to see the prototype in this thread and on the wrist check.

Ska, Perhaps you will be joining the makers of custom watches.

Great stuff.

Congratulations on your wonderful design and I trust you prosper in the work.

There's a thread on the progress of the dial somewhere! Some awesome 2-plate ceramic thing, it's stunning  and if the rest of the watch is this good I'm going to have to be extremely naughty and set fire to the plastic by buying one...:facepalm::lol:

Yep this is VERY much still in progress.

Prototyping has commenced, and is being documented. As Aren said, there's a more recent thread with a video of the 1st dial being laser cut.

Sorry to disappoint by the way but she doesn't have fixed lugs, instead she's got screw in bars like on Panerai Luminors which will comfortably take bracelets, NATOS, rubber and leather.
