ElvisFreak 73 Posted December 7, 2017 (edited) The communication of messages is slow between me and this pawnbroker in Montreal. But I had gotten knowledge of a "vintage Heuer Sub" sitting in their shop. I contacted the shop about it and they confirmed they have it. But here is the enigma: they claim its a replica. well, its a first for me in this 15 year hobby: Do replicas of Heuer Subs exist? Never seen one. In the photo they provided me, you can see the watch looks waaay too "new" to be a gen but, then this makes it a first for me to see a Heuer rep. Bjorns 0 Posted December 7, 2017 Never heard of a heuer sub rep at least not this model but are the hands not weird?
ElvisFreak 73 Posted December 7, 2017 yes, the hands are not right.... Of course, being in this rep hobby makes us not experts on what is possible out there... Just never thought a vintage Heuer rep would ever make it out of China factories
FL13 511 Posted December 7, 2017 Go down and give them 50 bucks for it and let us know
TheTinMan 13 Posted December 7, 2017 I don't remember seeing a Heuer specifically, but I do remember seeing that style on a street vendor's table on Yonge Street in Toronto, way back in the 90s. All those shitty fakes ticked back in the day so that would be a very easy tell. Have you gone in to see it?
FL13 511 Posted December 7, 2017 Elvis, Seriously, go buy it for $50.... Not kidding. From Hodinkee: "There is no hiding that the Heuer borrowed a lot its design from the legendary diver, from the Mercedes hands (although early examples also had cathedral hands) to the case's crown guards. " It could be a REALLY EARLY Sub...
FL13 511 Posted December 7, 2017 Oh and Some of the Heuer Subs were quartz, so a TICK doesn't mean fake.... Specifically the Heuer Monin (quartz)
roberto 24 Posted December 7, 2017 What do they want for it? Having said its a fake then.. would assume not very much.. as FL says.. get in there..

tabuktime 54 Posted December 7, 2017 How does the law stand on the seeking of fakes in Canukistan? Regardless, I concur with other posters. Bid low, buy it!
FL13 511 Posted December 7, 2017 IF they admitted its a replica, then why are they requesting so much?

Piccolo 673 Posted December 7, 2017 They did make some of the Heuer 1000 with the monin hands. Fully legit (quartz) ones seem to run between £400-£1200 depending on who has it and condition. I've looked for one for a while, and while I don't think there are good reps there are definitely some real ones that have been massively polished and had parts changed. Which leads me to think the shop may be mistakenly assuming its a rep... I dont live in Montreal anymore and I cant see it for myself but I just phoned them and made a real time offer of $100 CND cash....if they accept, my brother will pick it up and ship it to me.. in the gen, is the movement stamp HEUER or just generic ETA stamping? paccbet 7,176 Posted December 29, 2017 Mine is the L series so it has the ESA 963.114 movement instead of the 536.121 as opposed to the non L series shown above Rep or not it's still a cool watch. I had to get myself (gen) one from a colleague who bought this in the early 80s.
