FL13 511 Posted December 26, 2017 How'd you add a rotating bezel to the Exp2 case? Where'd you get all the parts? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
Om3ga_guy 0 Posted December 26, 2017 A damn fine watch! Awesome ! Thanks guys! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk How'd you add a rotating bezel to the Exp2 case? Where'd you get all the parts? Thanks! The case is gen spec and the Explorer and GMT II use the same case. You remove the explorer bezel which acts as a retainer for the crystal and gasket. You then mount a 16610/16710 retainer and snap the bezel in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Share this post Link to post

Om3ga_guy 0 Posted December 28, 2017 Where did you source a retainer and bezel assembly? I picked up the bezel assembly including retainer on m2m via rwi a few months ago.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Share this post Link to post
ginopino 0 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) I love it! That's what I want to "build" in the next! I have a question about the hands: are the same from the 16610? Obviuosly except for the 24h hand. For the case: I read that is also the same of the 16610, it's slimmer due to the different case back, ticker on the 16610 to withstand the pressure in diving. Could be true? Hey there, I believe the hands are the same as TC’s. I’m not sure if TC’s would mount to the GMT movement - if someone know that’s would be useful. In terms of the case yes the caseback is definitely slimmer. Not sure if the midcase itself is the same thickness as a 16610 but off the top of my head it certainly feels slimmer than a 16610. Crownguards and overall shape is obviously different. I just did some reshaping of the endlinks this morning along with some light aging of the bracelet and case. Better than what it was. Ive currently got a gen clasp on the way to complete the bracelet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Share this post Link to post
Icemanneo11 0 Posted December 29, 2017 Om3ga_guy....awesome build! i am or will be embarking on a build similar to this. So do you think the explorer case is the way to go? As opposed to a noob v7 GMT watch case? The case will house a gen 3186 movement so was wondering your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance! Share this post Link to post

This is a 5 digit Gmt master, you are talking about a 6 digit build. Share this post Link to post

Timestamp it sounds like your referring to a 6 digit? The new 6 digit noob cases are great as they will take all the Gen spec parts. The unique thing about this rare explorer case is its the only case that shares similar capabilities in terms of taking gen parts, but in the 5 digit generation. Anyone looking to get their hands a 16710 build (which takes gen parts) HAS TO find one of these old-school cases. Challenge is they’re a B!¥c# to find. Apologies for the lack of knowledge on that front. You are correct Share this post Link to post
