Rolex 16710 GMT Build (1:1 BK Explorer Case)

Hey refugees,

Well I was going to wait until RWI was up to share this build but it’s taking longer than hoped so here’s a sneak peak at my recent "over the holidays" build.

I was away for a while but im back and getting caught up with whats trending in the rep world. Coming back I had originally planned on building a 16610 TC case as some how they have become “rare” now but an opportunity to get my hands on a "rare" BK 1:1 Explorer case came up so I ventured this route instead.

I sourced all the parts individually and bought a superlumed BP 16710 from Sead for the dial and hands. Props to Sead for getting me a movement with perfectly aligned dates! Still working on the endlinks at the moment and will eventually put in a gen xstal and CHS movement.

Specs:

1. Noob (BK) Explorer 1:1 case set

2. Gen coke insert

3. TC bezel assembly

4. TC crystal

5. BP dial and hands. I had to shave the dial to fit the case.

6. BP date disc

7. A2836 movement

8. Noob bracelet c/w BP clasp

***Note the case thickness. Slimmest case I’ve ever seen for a rep case. Correct caseback installed.

Some photos after I reworked the endlinks a bit. They are hollow endlinks so I didn’t worry too much about the fitment. The topics not as sensitive as "SEL's".

* surprisingly the Pepsi insert fits the TC bezel assembly. I will use it until I find a genuine replacement.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Yeah the case is the foundation to this project. Ive had two gens, a Swiss-T dial and a Swiss Made dial and wearing this thing feels no different than when I had them. The TC bezel, crystal and gen insert were the icing on the cake. I'm looking forward to fitting a gen xstal. I just wanted it at a state where I could wear it over the holidays. Literally assembled it 2 nights ago after work.

Hey for the price the BP is a good all-around rep. I have a few photos over on RWI of my BP Pepsi when it was at its original state and it presented extremely well. 

These watches are always judged at a different level when you start rebuilding and frankenstein'g them.

For what its worth the colour on your GMT hand is much better than mine!

Gorgeous build.... As it happens, this morning finishing up some Christmas shopping at New York jewelers in Chicago, They have the Gen!!!! Had it on my wrist an hour ago. So let me say this. The case is really close. And the gen insert finishes it off perfectly. Great build. I think it goes without saying, i speak for many of us by this statement..... I needed that. Thanks for posting now. Who knows when home will be put back together.

Uncanny. I just PMed BK not 10 minutes ago seeing if he would do his thing to a BP 16710. Granted the case thickness would be way off since I don’t have one of your special cases, but still as you say it’s not bad out of the box and with BK’s mods it can only get better. Looks amazing mate.

Yes at first I was never a fan of the Jubilee bracelet either. I think it’s an acquired taste. Having seen it more and more over the years I’ve grown to really like it.

Looks fantastic on the GMT whether it’s a five digit or six digit.

Yeah it’s a great watch for the price. I too would be interested if BK would work on them. He hasn’t had a good 16710 offering in a long time.

Uncanny you say... I bought and paid for a BP 16710 (that’s hopefully in the air by now) from Sead a week ago. Have the same intentions, albeit not right away.
