Robse1 70 Posted February 27, 2018 You think it is possible to mix some paint with thinner ( like the pilworx mod on RWI) , fill the insert sections and let it dry? To get a maybe more even structure? Share this post Link to post
BustaPart 0 Posted February 27, 2018 Can confirm. Bought pen. Looks awesome. Was able to remove the excess paint with an cotton bud even after it dried. Share this post Link to post

Robert11 0 Posted February 28, 2018 Wow, super easy and comes out amazing. Received my paint marker Friday and did mine last weekend. Sent from my satellite phone. Share this post Link to post

To get a maybe more even structure? You can dry brush it super even and flat - as soon as its applied, with a really soft half inch brush. Give it two coats and it's amazing. As a clean up I used the side of a business card and then a soft cloth to finish. You can buy acrylic thinners, but the Molotow ink is already very liquid. Thinners also tend to split the metallic from the carrier on acrylics... Edited February 28, 2018 by muiramas Share this post Link to post

jimmydavies 0 Posted April 18, 2018 (edited) Thanks Gingerbubba. Having done the Sharpie mod and then this I think this looks miles better. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts before it needs to be redone. cheers! Edited April 18, 2018 by jimmydavies spelling Share this post Link to post
Andy-B 0 Posted April 23, 2018 Does the marker 'paint' adhering to the vertical sides of the inserts still leave the finished bezel looking okay? I've thought that this might be an easy 'tell' and not leave as sharp a finish. (I've ordered the Molotow marker from eBay and am still at the QC pics stage with a TD for the Noob V7 Sub 'No Date'). Andy-B 0 Posted April 24, 2018 (edited) Have decided to try a variation on Gingerbubba's theme and in addition to... Molotow Pennarello One4all 227hs 4mm - 227 Metallic Silver I've gone for a... Molotow E111 (Empty) and... Molotow Specialtech Tip 1mm to try to stop any paint from going up the vertical sides of the inserts. I've also had to invest in an eye loupe - any excuse I'll post pics when done. Now I just need the watch! Edited April 25, 2018 by Andy-B Spilling Share this post Link to post
GingerApple 7,272 Posted April 24, 2018 Sounds interesting. Good luck! I look forward to seeing the pics once it's done. Share this post Link to post

LargeMarge 0 Posted April 26, 2018 also how are you guys cleaning it without affecting the numbers and getting alcohol in there. im going crazy looking at these pictures and how amazing it looks Share this post Link to post

I think it's permanent ish (unless you take it off with methylated spirits etc). It might get a bit dirty/jaded after a while, but just redo it! When you've done the mod a couple of times, it's literally a five minute job from start to finish, mega easy. Share this post Link to post

But I use a very pointy cotton bud dipped in meths to clean tricky bits (eg the pearl and around there). Share this post Link to post
Andy-B 0 Posted April 26, 2018 Posty dropped these off today... Just need the loupe and the watch - my TD sent me a China Post tracking number so at least it's on its way. Looking at the 1mm tip, I may have to trim it down to nearer 0.5mm to avoid the insert sides, but at least the pack comes with pair so I can afford to foul one up - not that they're expensive. (Anyone in the EU who wants a link to the supplier, feel free to drop me a PM). Share this post Link to post
