jimbo85281 0 Posted January 16, 2018 Who knows where I can buy and aftermarket FADED (vintage look) bezel insert for my cartel 5512/5513? Several eBay sellers have faded inserts.be prepared to pay over $70 though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
fatarms 7,777 Posted January 16, 2018 Put some bleach in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds, the dunk the insert into the bleach and pull it out when it reaches the desired "faded" effect. I've done this 4 times already with cartel inserts. Bleach is about a dollar a bottle, lot cheaper than $70 for a pre-faded insert
bobandshawn 5 Posted January 16, 2018 Make sure to rinse thoroughly and let dry before you handle it. I've "smudged" several in the past and got uneven fading. Also, they tend to look a little darker when still wet. B

Just wondering why is it necessary to heat up the bleach? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk It doesn't really "help" per se, but speeds up the process. Heat speeds up just about any chemical reaction. Unless you want to babysit it for up to a half hour to 45 minutes, you can get the same result in about 5 minutes or less depending on the insert if you heat it. Just keep in mind that the insert will look darker than it really is while in the bleach. You'll want to take it out and rinse it well a few times until you get the hang of it and what to look for when bleaching the inserts. Good luck!
