ARF DAYTONA - Pic Heavy

Recommended Posts

OliverC

Well this little goodie arrived in the post today and I have to say I’m rather pleased.

It was only last Thursday that I came across a post showing off what I only imagined was one of the most beautiful looking Daytona’s I had seen. I really could not believe that it was a rep from the OP’s pictures so decided to take a deeper look.

This lead to an order being placed with Sead on Thursday and the watch being on my wrist this morning! Unbelievable service from my new “go to” dealer.

Reading up about the 904l Steel that ARF use in this watch peaked my interest and also scepticism, however in the hand, I am certain that there is a difference between this and the usual steel that is used. (Or at least the steel used in my Noob V7 Hulk)

The quality of the watch is fantastic. It gleams and glistens in the sunlight in a way that I have only seen gen rolex’s do. Very impressive!

The bracelet is like butter. Extremely smooth.

The dial is perfect from what I can see and everything seems to line up correctly.

The thickness, or rather thin-ness, of the watch is also noticeable. I understand that this is pretty much gen-like and it definitely feels like it compared to previous gens that I have held.

The ONLY negative to the watch is the noisy- ish - rotor. Although this is well known for this model and not a hard or expensive fix. One which I will be doing soon.

pictures are taken in a variety of lighting. Some with flash some without. And also some with the watch next to a Noob V7 Hulk and a Blue Regmariner for comparison on the steel colour.

Enjoy! I know I am!!

Watch was bought from Sead (supermirrors) over on the repgeek forum.

About £360 including shipping (after converting to pounds from dollars)

How was it shipped and what method of payment did you use out of curiosity? I typically use visa, which normally has a 25% charge whacked on top, then the shipping is extortionate. I normally see a watch priced at $458 and just assume it’ll cost around £458 after the hidden costs!

Paid via PayPal, no extra charges and shipped via Royal Mail special delivery. Was extremely reasonable

I believe it has a working seconds at 6, but the subdials at 3 and 9 are non-functioning so no this isn't a working chronograph. That was apparently a compromise that had to be made to get the thickness of the case as close to gen as possible.

All true. I got mine today also from Sead (supermirrors) and it is stunning.

And I won’t miss any Chrono on the little sub-dials anyhow, which I wouldn’t miss on a gen either...in a time of smart phones, those functions are definitely not needed in daily life and are for freaks only...

Casawelli1, I've got a gold one arriving any day now on the oysterflex band. Can you tell me what your thoughts are on the loudness of the rotor? I've been hearing reports suggesting it's extremely loud?

Sorry for very late reply.
I can‘t complain about the rotor at all and the Daytona has most wristtime ever since arrival...

I’ve been wearing mine as a daily beater now for 6 months and no problem with the movement. Mine has never had any noise issues either.
