Pseudorep 3 Posted March 18, 2018 Thought I'd post a review of my recently acquired XF Tudor Black Bay Bronze Blue from Trusty. I'm aware the was a pretty good review recently with it on leather so I thought I'd spare you the leather photos and post just the fabric strap one. I ordered it back in early Feb (2nd Feb) but got caught up by CNY, and then it arrived the day after I left for 2 weeks travelling so I've only just unboxed it today. While I was away I visited a few ADs to try on the Black Bay Bronze so I have an idea of the gen but not the colour of the gen (Bucherer in London didn't have any in stock unfortunately). Overall, the quality is good and has some nice weight to it. My version came with a bit of a patina already but I was aware of that from the QC photos and can live with it. The good - beautiful looking watch, with the bronze looking as good as the gen. The bezel colours may or may not be accurate but since no one seems to have the gen I can't compare, however, it looks great nonetheless. The movement seems solid, and was running right out the box and keeping good time (time will tell with this but from what I can tell the A2824 is a good movement). The fabric strap is pretty good in looks and quality (quality comparable to a decent NATO strap). Crown engraving, lugs, and stem tube look well finished. Crystal looks good and clean and the correct shape. Dial text, markers, and lume look good and nearly identical to gen as far as I can tell. The bad - the bezel has a bit more play than the gen has (this doesn't bother me personally, and something I was prepared to accept), however the clicks sound firm (can't compare with gen because it was cellophane wrapped). The leather strap while looking nice feels very much like "cardboard leather", and quite stiff at the same time. Overall would rate it a 9/10 for the watch, a 8/10 for the fabric strap and a 4/10 for the leather strap. (If for any reason the photos don't work the Imgur album is here)

GingerApple 7,285 Posted March 18, 2018 Oh damn it, another one on the 'want' list! Lovely write up OP, thanks for making the effort. Hope you love it. If not, I hope you sell it to me M2M!
THXuk 0 Posted March 18, 2018 Its a really nice rep, and agree completey about the bezel play. It certainly should be added to peoples short list, just to have a bronze watch in the collection. I added Prof AR to mine, and also switched to a blue OEM Tudor NATO (re-stiched the bronze strap parts to it) crappy iphone pic below:

Had to come back and edit this, I just realised this is your first post on the forum, wow! This should be held up as a shining example to all the pointless question asking, unable to use the search box, too lazy to read, NOOBS that seem to plague us on a daily basis. Thanks for a great review and stunning photos. BTW, you never have to apologise for adding to our knowledge base. Well done my friend, well done If there is an award for noob of the month, I nominate @Pseudorep! Edited March 18, 2018 by tabuktime To praise the OP on a fine first post. Pseudorep 3 Posted March 18, 2018 (edited) @GingerBubba good choice - you won't be disappointed, it's a good looking watch! @tabuktime thanks for the welcome. Between here and the other forums there's a good amount of information on this hobby so didn't really need to post. I won't lie it was a bit daunting but trust, patience, and a willingness to accept risks and compromise definitely seem like a virtue here. I'll certainly be sticking around and getting a few more now I've got the bug (so expect more watch porn in the future). @THXuk is the profAR on this a worthwhile mod? I notice it reflects a bit it's not so bad it's white half the time (like my gen Seiko cocktail time for example) Edited March 18, 2018 by Pseudorep
THXuk 0 Posted March 18, 2018 I add Prof AR to on the majority of my reps. Was it worth it, for around £125, i think it was, but one thing i would add is that prof AR is the best I have found, but durabliity on any outer AR can be an issue, and you may over time get a small spot here and there. I think it tends to work best on silver and grey dials.
elementsk7 0 Posted March 20, 2018 amazing pictures, really have me wanting to get the bucherer instead of the standard BB black, I guess it'll come down to pricepoint and case size
Pseudorep 3 Posted March 20, 2018 I weighed it against the standard black bay and personally I went with this. It’s big and chunky (which might not be your thing), but suitable for big and small wrists. On big wrists the leather strap works well and on small wrists the fabric strap makes it feel a bit more compact.Price point is a premium over the BB (similar price to Pelagos at the TDs), but Bronze costs more than SS.But overall all the elements come together nicely on this - vintage look and feel, unique material, good colour combo (the poor mans bluesy lol).
