Cambridge 0 Posted April 19, 2011 Hi all! I am a new member here that had heard alot about Mary's quality work and inquired about a Rolex (Ceramic) Submariner, pretty much the same as Kenny's on this forum. These were my requirements and pictures (that really came super quick) from Mary. Please help out and give a look-see ? Rolex Submariner - Sweeping hand like on ETA - Sapphire Crystal - Ceramic Bezel New Model - Rolex Rolex Rolex engraved inside around dial - Blue Lume on Bezel Pearl and hands and markers - Rehaut engraving at 9 o clock needs to be aligned - Crown in correct center What I liked about Kenny's one was also the presence of Serial number engraved in the bracelet links Serial number between lugs Type of the watch between lugs Engraved serial, swiss made on the case back Here are the pics: As for the handsweeping movement, what kind of ETA movement should be put in it ? Thanks in advance!
Akira 0 Posted April 19, 2011 Swiss or Asian 2836 movement is 28.800 beats/h gives you the genlike sweep. I bought this version with ceramic bezel for a friend with 21J from Mary. Stunning watch. Yours looks really good, pearl is nicely centered, insert and lume looks pretty good too.
KeNnY 29 Posted April 19, 2011 Only thing that I wanted to change on my Ceramic submariner before I sold it, was the change of hour hand it should not have that big "ring" around the hour hand. This same hour hand is also on DSSD what is wrong. Some of the Rolex Ceramics have the correct hour hand, including the LV version and Blue versions. But this is the thing that only 0.001% people will ever notice, when they will see this amazing Rolex Ceramic Submariner Don't worry it will have written serial numbers between lugs and on the bracelet. Give it a go with Asian ETA !
Cambridge 0 Posted April 19, 2011 Thanks for the replies! Do you think the pearl that sits on top is a bit off? Like it comes out at the sides or is this just an optic illusion/me looking too much for signs of offness? What would be the difference between the Asian or the Swiss 2836 movement? More precision? Thanks all!
KeNnY 29 Posted April 19, 2011 The Pearl is perfect, mine was 100% the same like yours... there are MACRO shoots you will not be able to see it with your own eye that precise As for the movement go for Asian, it is cheaper and I think more reliable, because Swiss often is refurbished movement with parts from Asian (Clone). Also why pay 100USD extra if it is the same reliable and interchangeable like the Swiss ?
powderfreak 0 Posted April 19, 2011 What would be the difference between the Asian or the Swiss 2836 movement? More precision? Not necessarily, Swiss should be made out of better ("swiss") parts, but sometimes (always?) you could only end up with an old or refurbished swiss movement. Asian are always new movements. But if you search, you will find some discussions about pros and cons of both. To the watch: Is the rehaut engraving slightly off to the left? I think so... KeNnY 29 Posted April 19, 2011 To the watch: Is the rehaut engraving slightly off to the left? I think so... he has got the same version of the case like I had... but who cares.. again only 0,001% people will notice the engraving and only 0,0000001% will know that it should be aligned
KBH 7 Posted April 19, 2011 If you look at the "X" at the 5 and 10 marker on the 3rd picture, they look perfectly lined up.You're not gonna get much better than that.
Member X 91 Posted April 19, 2011 Buy the clone ETA, with the money you save you can get the movement serviced

Cynikal.Mindset 1 Posted April 20, 2011 Luth, there have been instances of base swiss movements found with chinese replacement parts. These movement were sold as genuine swiss movements by trusted dealers but upon teardown and disection many pieces were found to be chinese parts. Heck, for a movement to be certified swiss it only has to be like 50% swiss parts anyways.
