I think it stems from people worrying about the plating on reps being the wrong colour or rubbing off easily........... Here is my Jackie Chan, it's a great rep.......... I have several scratches on my RG watch, and if you look really close you can see the silver metal underneath but, you have to literally put the watch in your eye to see it, so I don't really care about it.
