Not very original but Sub with date. Maybe a James DSSD. Am ordering reps now for a test drive. Hell, I may just love a BK rep and be done.

Grand Seiko snowflake.

Top quality, not worth selling on as residuals are poor (so I’d have to keep it). Finally you don’t see them everywhere.

Most of us already have a prostitute.  Different origins for different reasons.

Some I considered:

Steinhart Sub Red

$400

probably better price value than seikos

“Long-jeans” chrono calendar master

$2000 a lot of complications for the bucks

Sub C 116613 blue

$9000

beautiful, pricey but still affordable, yet I’m worried that the gold scratches quickly.

Cheaper, yes. Better value.... Nah mate :)

Maybe when Steinhart is a completely vertically integrated manufacture.

Let's not forget that bronze and blue Christopher Ward watch of yours that I'm rather fond of.

  Yes, of course! I always wondered if I’d like a bronze diver as I generally prefer “clean” watches and the patina thing was a bit of an unknown for me but I have to say that I rather like the aged effect that the patina gives.

If you compare it to similarly priced seikos:

it has a swiss elabore movement with close to cosc timing for the next decade.

The seiko movements in that price class are low beat und typically not regulated or capable of such a precision. Often they can fluctuate a minute (unregulated ootb).

then the seiko has hardlex (mineral glass) and is  made in china/japan

I bought this Speedy because there are no decent reps of the original 42mm and because at around £2k it's fairly affordable. Plus it's the first watch worn on the moon!2d37962a7ea3ccc89603705645e1beba.jpg99ca4045680f4e4e920017345b5e6e30.jpg

Genius

I'd get a Greubel-Forsey GMT Earth Tourbillion, because it's fucking amazing.

Unfortunately it's also half a million quid, so unlikely I'll ever have one

I'd find it difficult to spend a lot of money on a watch I knew was repped as close as possible to the gen....I've always thought the breitling aerospace would be a good gen to invest in since there is no rep available.....

I would buy this is gen but i already built it as franken so it is even better. Only gen i would buy would be something i can bang around on my work when the trusty old $5 vader in last picture releases me from the grip of dark side as i can't seem to get rid of it. Lost it 4 times and it keeps making its way back to me.

I'm by no means a Rolex fan, but if I went for a gen I'd for an old school 36mm datejust. In fact I sometimes keep an eye on watch auctions, and feel my finger twitching to hit the bid button.  It will happen someday.

I don't understand the love for 36mm datejust, they're so tiny, doesn't look right in today's standards of a modern  man. Unless if you're a smaller man, but on a big guy, no way.
