MIYOTA 9015 - noisy rotor - a missing screw?

Recommended Posts

VMSG

My Breguet Classique is a  MIYOTA 9015 based watch and the rotor is noisy. it feels like the rotor is hitting the case back (the noise is like metal hitting glass).

I think that there is a missing screw on the rotor (there is a place for a screw at least) - this could be the problem?

What can be done?

BTW, this is a new watch I just got from Mary

Thanks!

Yes there is a missing screw.  Odds are it's still in the case.  I'd suggest carefully opening it and looking for the screw.

Thank you.

I'm not sure how to open this case...

And I think that I would hear it moving if the missing screw was inside, right?

Possibly.   It's also possible the screw is wedged and not moving, which is better so it doesn't damage the movement.   Can you post a couple of pictures of the caseback.  There's one of three ways it'll be attached.  Screw on which there would be notches for a caseback tool, screwed on via a series of screws.or press on.

This tiny fucker is probably in there somewhere, just waiting the right moment to get into the hairspring, a gear or any other part and stop (damage) your movement ;)

Try to open the case back with the sticky tape method and look around, shake the watch a little (don't bang it on the table though :D )

@teddy875, I could not take closeup photos with my phone, so here are some from a TD site - maybe you can tell me how to open this case:

I don't see any screws, a hole to use as a leverage or something to "hold" for a case wrench... I'm so noob... :\

BTW, do you know where I can buy this missing screw? (I don't even know what to search...)

If you look between the lugs, are there any screws on the side of the midcase?

Isn't that simply a screw down case ?

A simple duct tape ball (use the search bar for that) or a this type of case opener shoud do the trick :

I've spotted this crew wasn't missing in your review, so she's definitely in there somewhere !

Could it be a front loader, ie no opening caseback at all?

LOL, I'm such a noob... I didn't even know this is an option... I've ordered this friction ball and I'll try when it arrives...

There is such a thing? a case that you can't open?

You can open it, but from the front :)

@VMSG

Any luck opening your Breguet? Just got mine and the dial is wonky.

I've tried using a friction ball and it will not open.

@semperfi55 no, I still could not find a way. I'm starting to think that @Gingerbubba is right and it can only be open from the front....

Ah bad luck :/

If it's a front loader I genuinely don't know what to do. Will need a watchsmith for that...

Have you, by any chance, asked Mary how the case opens?

The honorable @tripdog123 informed you in the other topic that this is a pressure fit.
Now you only have to wonder how to open a pressure fit backcase :)

Put it in a pressure cooker.

Apparently not :)

I was able to open the case, yes it is a pressure fit after all...

The screw is not inside and this is not the case for the noisy rotor, the rotor is just not "straight" it has a small angle and this cause the noise.

Thank you everyone!

Already closed it, but once you have the confidence to put a little pressure it is easy and simple to open the case.

How did you open it? Did you pry it open with a caseback knife?
