ETA 400.101 Stem Removal??

Recommended Posts

WatchDog21

I am looking yet I do not find!  Usually if you watch for what is moving when you pull the stem in and out you can eventually find where the release is at.  I am not having any luck this time.  My best guess was a screw next to the stem.  I gave it two turns but nothing budges.

Anybody know where the release is at?

I've done some research, the correspondance of this movement in the ETA datasheet is : 802.101 (according to this link : http://www.almax47.com/Files/120774/17647369948774.pdf)

This gave the following documentation : http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=81306757247642083313

And the following paragraph :

The handsetting stem can be forced out. Extraction force = 25 N (+10/-10)
The handsetting stem is normally removed by unscrewing the screw for the stem spring. If the spring of the stem cannot be accessed (monocoque case), pull the crown to position 2 and turn slightly to remove the stem.
When introducing the handsetting stem, turn it slightly in order not to damage the toothing of the setting wheel

Thank you @Glaude!  It seemed to be a combination of both as described in that paragraph.  First pull out to position 2 and turn slightly; it released but was not fully removed.  Then 2 turns of the screw and it cam right out

Now I can address the obvious problem
