dingle 57 Posted April 25, 2011 Hey folks, A noob here. Taken from this thread Thank you. 7750 basic = seconds at 9 location. This is what the movement was designed for. 7750 modifications = same movement, but with a modification to locate the seconds at the 6 or the 12 location. This one is still a high risk movement, but the "treatment" seems to help, but not cure the problem. EX = example
Luthier 1 Posted April 25, 2011 Original Swiss Valjoux 7750 movement has seconds hands on 9 o'clock subdials configuration. Asian copy of this movement (A7750) has the same comfiguration of subdials. If replica manufacturer making the watch, that originally employ non-7750 movement, with seconds hand at 6 o'clock or 12 o'clock - they add a few gears to transfer seconds hand from 9 to 6 or 12, and it was never completely successful transfer, such a mov't need graphite treatment and oiling right away, or it could die at any moment. MikeMcNair 0 Posted April 25, 2011 In simple terms, if it's a 7750 with seconds anywhere but 9 the added gears don't have bearings (jewels) and are prone to failing fast

David543 0 Posted April 25, 2011 as above, thats why the daytona's always go pete tong.. Yeh, spend more and it will go 'sproing'. Small print. I in no way guarantee any purchased watch will make this exact sound. Or unfortunately any sound.....

kan3 0 Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) Thank you. I think I'll just go with 7750 basic chrono original configuration. Thank you again. Edited April 25, 2011 by kan3
Ska 11 Posted April 25, 2011 kan - depending on the watch mate, you probably won't get to choose the movement. For example, a Daytona will almost always have a secs @ 6 whereas a seamaster will have secs 9. The service option will correspond to the watch.
