Change bezel on Tudor?

Recommended Posts

Hi i want to change my bezel insert on my tudor black bay rep. So is it just to pry off the bezel with a knife and then press out the insert with your fingers, and pop it back on? I need some help here :)

YOu don't pry it off from the front. You remove the bezel and use a sharp knife to detach it from its glue putting the knife (better a scalpel) between the bezel and the insert.

Like this:

In order to obtain this:

This is ok for both the ceramic (in the pic) and the Al inserts.

So to remove the bezel from the watch you insert a knifer to detach it from the watch? and then cut trough the glue that holds the insert onto the bezel?

Yes, I have used the case knife like this:

but now to remove the bezel I have this, which is safer on ceramic inserts:

You can use this system, but put some tape on the case not to scratch it with the knife:

If you’re not planning on keeping the old bezel insert, don’t bother taking off the bezel.

Warm up the case to melt the glue, I put mine on the hot water cylinder at home for a few hours, knock the pearl off to reveal a small hole in the insert, hook it off carefully.

Clean up and  glue on the new insert.

And if I don't have a hot water cylinder can you recommend someone to fit one?

Not even a bowl of hot water? The best part of being a broke, amateur watch smith is getting creative.

Use a hairdryer to heat and soften the glue.
