My new vintage obsession

Recommended Posts

I've gotten obsessed with these inexpensive vintage watches.  They are so cool and the size is one I like.  35-36mm.  Apparently I like expansion bracelets too.

Those are awesome looking.  Especially the two turtle shapes.

those are good looking.... but considering it is only 36 mm stuff you need to wear half-a-dozen of them for mensch-feeling.... like bracelets.... oh wait....

Hard to argue against any of those Rich; nice, elegant watches. Except the gold monstrosity of course.

These are quite inexpensive too!

Putting one of the "turtle" cases (as coined above) on a Bund strap and it'd wear quite heftily!

Can you link the source please? Or is it the Watergate?

There quite old.....Before the watch companies leave the term "Waterproof" for "Water resistant"

I don't think I could pull them off quite yet, but if you like them Rich, enjoy wearing them mate!

Cheers :D

I believe it was the late sixties that the "proof" had to be dropped...

@Daffy gave me the two turtles.  Albeit not in the shape they are in now.  They were pretty messed up and didn't really run.  But a bit of TLC and they are nice.

Thanks Daffy!

I was goofing around with you.  I'm glad you like them.  That Caravelle / Bulova cleaned up a lot better than I thought it was going to.  VERY nice work there, Rich!

Really like them and the bracelet, been wondering if I could pull of a gold bracelet like that on my orient gold watch.

What are the names on these watches ?

I have a few watches in the 36-38mm size range.  They look really elegant (especially with an expansion bracelet IMHO), but once I put them on they just feel undersized to me.  Maybe for a formal occasion as a dress watch, but nope to everyday beater.
