Must See: Maurice Lacroix Aikon

Recommended Posts

SamsonAusKognito

Hello ladies and gentleman,

today I want to share a review of my Maurice Lacroix Aikon.

cN3VoiE.jpg

It‘s the first Automatic Aikon model they‘ve made, ML used the ML 115 Kaliber movement.

The dial has a wonderful waffle pattern in diamond like shape, extremely accurate made.

5PLmDHy.jpg

the black colour of mine is very deep black, clearly deeper black than the Royal Oak.

Other colour options are white and blue, but unfortunately  blue has a white date wheel.

1fdB93M.jpg

Water resistant to 20ATM, 38hr power reserve.

5PLmDHy.jpg

Case diameter is 42mm, the Bezel has a very  nice mix between brushed finish at the top surface and the sides and "claws" on the Bezel are high polished.

The brushed surfaces are beautiful fine almost silky in optic.

sFW0JfQ.jpg

case thickness is just 1.1 cm and as you can see the Crown logo is perfectly aligned when completely screwed down.

the Bracelet has a pretty smart quick release system, you can remove the bracelet by using just two fingers pushing the pins together (as marked below)

bztUt2p.jpg

These little pins have the Maurice Lacroix Logo engraved /lasered on them.

2zh8IFI.jpg

To get the bracelet back on you just need to push it in, no need to touch the pins the bracelet glides in itself.

ci9YMhw.jpg

Solid steel links milled out of stainless steel.

The bracelet is brushed with polished edges.

K9LK77U.jpg

The production tolerances are very small and the bracelet feels very smooth on the wrist.

the clasp has the logo on the inside.

Only critic on the bracelet is that it is connected with push pins and not screws.

cN3VoiE.jpg

The sapphire crystal has an AR coating on the inside with beautiful blue reflection, but in my opinion it still reflects a little bit too much, but that‘s just me and I‘m used to Prof Steve‘s 2x AR. :)

In my opinion it‘s a great value you get for a very competitive price. I paid 1.600,-€ at my AD.

In the web they‘re available for a bit over 1.300,-€ with leather strap.

I‘m very happy with my purchase and hope you like my review. :)

Thanks guys :)

@EBB which colour option would be your pick?

I think the Chrono version is very beautiful too.

That’s brilliant for €1600. I really like the quick release system on the bracelet, very convenient. Weird that the bracelet doesn’t have screw links at that price point though.

Wear it in good health!

Indeed, but I was said that Patek uses pins instead of screws too.

Would be interesting to know why Patek Phillippe prefers the pins.

Probably aesthetics. The holes look neater in my opinion, although the screws are easier when adjusting the length of the bracelet.

This is probably why. And all being said, I have never really had an issue with push pins. Proper tools make it almost as easy as screw links.

That's the key; proper tools. My £3 eBay cheapie is not a proper tool so it is annoying when I have to use it. Can anyone recommend a decent, reasonably priced pin tool? The main issue with my cheapie is it isn't long enough and therefore only pushes pins out half way - you then need pliers to pull to pull pins out the rest of the way - and that's a recipe for bent pins!

It’s more the size of the attachment that drives the pin out than the actual tool itself that’s important. Find one with interchangeable attachments and you’ll be a happy camper. Ofrei has many different ones to choose from, ranging from cheap to ‘only interesting for a watchmaker’ pricewise.

 Good advice, ta.

That‘s a big pro on pins @Foxindebox I have to admit. :)

Looks much cleaner than big screws.

Thanks for the watch porn.

I like how you can immediately tell the resemblance with Royal Oak, yet it has its own unique flair too!

Great purchase! :Applause:

Thank you all for the compliments :)

I'm currently trying to get a 2xAR Crystal for this beauty.
I suppose they use the same Crystal size as the AP 15400.

As soon as I have one installed I'll post some new pics and tell you the specs. ;)

That’s a very nice watch indeed! I’ve looked at Maurice Lacroix several times before and they have some nice pieces but I’ve never actually owned one. I really like this model and your review and photos are great - thanks for posting. :thumbsup2:

Personally, I wouldn’t touch the crystal and would leave it standard.

So I did it and have let Domi install the new 2xAR Crystal ... I‘m 100% happy with it!

A friend of mine has instantly reserved one of these Crystals when he saw my watch and is now buying this watch too. :)
