Tudor 7928 vintage sub

So I acquired a scuffed up gilt 7928 Yuki dial that came with a watch and bunch of other parts from someone who couldn't actually build the watch.  Actually I think they tossed every watch part they had into the box.  Scratches are no big deal on a glossy watch, just matte spray and it disappears.  So the gen is this:

So I matte sprayed the dial, stripped the hands on a cartel, and relumed both the hands and the dial.

I had a case but no bezel and insert so I ordered one from WSO.  It looks better than the cartel ones, but I can see no way to make it functional.  If I use a plexi loose enough for the bezel to turn you can knock off the whole assembly, and if I use a plexi large enough to be firmly held it won't turn.  Same thing with a Clark 1675 bezel.  Anyway it looks better and my OCD is such that I've been know to glue the bezel so that it is always in the correct position anyway.  All in all a decent compromise I guess.

It has a Tropic 39 plexi on it and I've drilled out the lugs and trimmed up the CGs a bit.  Could maybe use a bit more of a trim, but I wanted to wear it.  So pics:

Superb results Rich, amazing what you can do with spare parts.

I’m probably wrong but I believe I see less Tudor watches in the wild than Rolex, in my opinion that makes them more rare

WSO is an eBay seller: http://www.ebaystores.com/wholesaleoutlet990

Carries pretty decent aftermarket parts.

Lovely!

Did the bezel come like that with the pearl or have you made it yourself?

Take the pearl out.  Put tape behind the hole, apply lume. Let dry and then put a drop of epoxy over it.  Let dry.  Voila.

One trick I do is to take the T39 and lap it down 1mm. Then it looks a lot like a vintage T19 high dome.

And the WO990 bezels are tricky. I've used them a lot, and learned to order three to make one good one, through mixing parts.

But if it's spinning well, just a bit loose, Take out the washer and "taco" it a bit before putting it back in. That'll stiffen it up a bit.

And overall it looks really good. I would take a bit more of the guards (sides) however. I think a lot of people don't understand how difficult it is to make them look right, as you need to reassemble the watch to have solid reference points with the crown, crystal and bezel ring.

Awesome

The print “Self Rotor” is such a delightful Smile whenever i look at the dial. By the way, what’s the thickness including its crystal? Thx
