Logixa 8 Posted September 2, 2018 Here is me current, almost finished, project a Franken gmt 116710. You have to scroll down and look at the pictures from the bottom to the top because the chronological order is reversed due to my phone. What I've done: - full service - replace a lot of movement parts and screws - install Gen bezel and gen bezel insert(bought it from the bay and it was mentioned to have a crack 22, doesn't bother me that much). - Gen crystal C12 - dial and hands lumed by domi with super luminova bg w9 - base seems a BP due to the rounded corners of the 6 and 9 markers - bracelet is missing in action but being sourced as we speak - case has been repolished and rebrushed - added hyrtel bezel gasket - all gaskets have been greased Watch is almost done, needs a bracelet and a bezel washer. Bracelet that was provided was from a deep sea sea dweller so it wont fit. Shameless tagging incoming! @Luxuracer @GingerBlubba @Glaude @semperfi55 @GenTLe @NCRich @Foxindebox @FoxWilde @Thommo82 @TAG Heuer @J!m @paccbet@paccbet @metalmickey @Moondustesp@Moondustesp @BabaNJ

GenTLe 1,510 Posted September 2, 2018 Lovely! And I definitively need to find out how to polish SS... If I use the dremel polish compound it doesn't work and also the car body polish seems not working on SS...
Logixa 8 Posted September 2, 2018 @Sigg thanks mate! @GenTLe use Mothers Mag and a dremel on low speed

Logixa 8 Posted September 2, 2018 The first one is correct mate! The second link is a steel polish while the first is alloy polish. I havent used the second ever so I don't know how well that one works. I know the tip of mother's mag from the samurai world where it's often used to polish samurai swords
GenTLe 1,510 Posted September 2, 2018 Thanks! Got it. I've found it on Amazon: the 5oz at 20€. The 10oz at 22€
semperfi55 4,707 Posted September 2, 2018 Fantastic work mate! Just the motivation I need to continue on my own projects on a Lazy Sunday... What sort of ultrasonic cleaner machine do you use? The polishing tips are useful as well! Next step: Post photos in chronological order

Glaude 1,615 Posted September 2, 2018 Now that's a very nice work ! I quite like the reverse order of the pictures ! 33 minutes ago, GenTLe said: Lovely! And I definitively need to find out how to polish SS... If I use the dremel polish compound it doesn't work and also the car body polish seems not working on SS... I use Unipol product, works like a charm ! (some big watch group use them too) You can find the documentation here : http://www.osborn.com/media/PDF/literature-de/Osborn-Classic-Compounds-English.pdf I mainly use the blue bar Thinking of ordering the yellow to play with black polishing technique The type of "wheel" used or more precisely the material of the wheel can play a big role in the finish
Logixa 8 Posted September 2, 2018 @semperfi55 I currently use those normal household ultrasonic cleaners that you can buy from your local supermarkt, Walmart or whatever but I will be upgrading it soon to one where you can set the temperature, time and power. These can be bought from Ali for around 75 to 200 average. More important is the cleaning liquid. I use a self made liquid of which I had the recipe from a 60 year old watchmaker who has been in the business since the beginning of time. If you want the recipe, just pm me mate! @Moondustesp thanks mate! @Glaude thanks!
novi08 0 Posted September 2, 2018 Would you like selling it ?! Thanks!

Completely tear-down and rebuild a watch, including service and replace parts for the movement are not easy tasks, even for season watchsmith. I am applauding you on reaching to this level of watchmaking. You are achieving greatness in this hobby. P.S ... You know those 'kind' words are not from me ... right?!? @Logixa ... You fuckery! This is my 60 yr old secret jewelry cleaning solution. Run some Hot Tap Water, grab a bowl and mix in 7 parts hot water, 1 part Mr. Clean and a tiny squirt of Dawn Dish Soap. There you have it! paccbet 7,176 Posted September 2, 2018 I saw somewhere a BP 116710 can case a 3135 movement straight on too. Lovely build!
GingerApple 7,306 Posted September 2, 2018 Great work, thanks for sharing. You've only been into watches for a 10 or 12 months haven't you? Less than a year from memory. And you used to get your watches serviced when you first started. So you've come a long way in just a few months. Self taught or learning from somewhere/someone? But definetly interesting find!
