Hi Guys,

Suddenly I couldn´t secure my crown anymore.

I think the stem and crown thread is broken, any ideas ?

I added a picture

BTW anyone got a good and trusty watchsmith in germany or bavaria  ?

Thanks for your help guys.

O

Mate - picture isn’t showing. Sounds like the crown has threaded - so you’ll need a new tube and crown. One of the experts can advise if it would take a gen crown and tube .... relatively inexpensive ...as for a watch smith in your area.... wouldn’t have a clue!

Threads on the inside of the tube line up with threads inside the crown.

Thanks, I cannot see the thread inside the crown.

But logically you must be right . So my problem is oviously a cracked thread inside the crown as the thread in the tube is really looking ok.

Or is it always mandatory to exchange both ( tube and crown ) ?

thanks

I’d say It’s a good idea to change both if you can, one may have damaged the other plus a replacement crown may not quite fit the existing tube , let’s not forget where these watches are made, a replacement may come from a different factory and have a different thread

There’s a UK based watch repair guy on the trusted dealer list who may be able to help you, he’s kinda busy so a little patience is needed

I had the same issue with my Gen Omega SMP - I got a gen tube and crown from CousinsUK ... but had a little help from Rolie to make sure I got the right parts - might be a good place to start - have a look up to see if anyone has missed this model with gen parts too.  Hope this helps :)

I know this sounds nuts, but if you have some needle nose pliers squeeze the tube gently so that you move the threads in a bit. I've done this with 2 POs and both are still working after a year. You have nothing to lose so you may as well try.

You are absolutely right, that solved the problem, but it made me loose some confidence in the REP : ) Thanks O

But now I have a new problem, I pressed to hard on the stem release and now it doesn´t hold in the watch anymore ; (

Seems I have the 2836 keyless problem now, not able to set time and date.

I may open a new thread.

Thanks PAL you saved me spending 35 $

Oliver

It won’t last forever, especially if you unscrew the crown repeatedly, time to order a new crown/stem
