BoobBandit 1,311 Posted November 3, 2018 Hello fellow rep aficionados Would someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of the resident Daytona guru? I need a Daytona repaired. It has the seconds @ 9 o clock. Could be an A7750. Not sure. Anyway, I figured I can try to get it fixed. I reckon it could use a good service too. Cheers gang. BoobBandit 1,311 Posted November 4, 2018 Oops sorry 1 hour ago, Glaude said: What's the issue ? 1 minute ago, Luxuracer said: More details .... pictures would also help! Noobitus I’m afraid. The issue is, the seconds hand (@9) has fallen off and the Crono and hour/ minutes hands no longer function. If I turn the crown it turns like bicycle pedals with the chain detached. See below. Thanks
Luxuracer 14 Posted November 4, 2018 It doesn't look like you have an A7750 Daytona .... More of a cheapie 21J movement. It will not be cost effective to fit it. Just buy a new watch.
Glaude 1,615 Posted November 4, 2018 Taking the case back if you can, could help with the diagnostic, but I remember this was your first rep right ? A cheapie bought on a market right ? Like Luxuracer said, little chances for it to be A7750
BoobBandit 1,311 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Yeap, this was my first rep, my brother bought it at an open air market in Hong Kong. Unfortunately that's all I know. I don't know how much he paid, he claims it was 700 dollars, but that's typical BS from my brother designed to impress me. I want to take the case back off but I think I need a special tool to do it. Well it's already a big help from what you all have already shared, I guess part of me was drinking the Kool-aid thinking this might be a 300 dollar watch. If its not, then I'm not averse to just keeping it for laughs and leaving it as is. If it is a cheapie fix I thought i could get a cheap movement and install it myself. But maybe the case is wrong, I don't know. Doesn't sound cost effective. Thanks Fellas! Noob status: confirmed! Glaude 1,615 Posted November 4, 2018 Try the ducttape ball method for openeing the case back Take some duct tape and roll it up sticky side out, stick it on the caseback and you can unscrew it without a tool or risk of damaging the watch

fatarms 7,758 Posted November 4, 2018 Not convinced this is not a 7750, do 21J models have seconds at 9? I've not had many Daytonas over the years, but I had a "time bomb" as my first purchase and the only 21J I've had was from Reg with seconds at 6.

I'd love to confirm mate, but at the moment, I'm trying to mickey mouse a workaround to take the case back off. I've got no duct tape in the house, and its a CAT 5 storm outside

BoobBandit 1,311 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) I'm going to have to go to the shop tomorrow and pick up a small plastic ball. I cant get it off with duct tape or a skateboard wheel. More to come! BoobBandit 1,311 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Holy shit fellas! the duct tape worked! Oy, so I’m a little shocked because the bastard is turning! I unscrewed the crown and I could see the main gear turning the whole time! The hands don’t seem to move though? Maybe it’s just dirty? It doesn’t look like a pos. Proper jewels in there and what not. Anyone recognize if it’s a 7750? I reckon I can just google it too..
