Hey guys,

I need your opinions. Is it worth purchasing this watch:

w3pogKi_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&f

47vAbIU_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&f

Kk7qxZu_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&f

eWM3Bwl_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&f

Year: 2012 discontinued model with box and papers. Only few hairlines, no dings.

The asking price is 41,000 USD. Is it worth it or is he asking for too much?

It's more of an asset I believe, Can save my money on it, and maybe it'll go up in price later on when it's time to sell it?

Is it just me, or is a question about the worth of a $41k watch ever going to come with a "yes" answer on a rep forum (even though it is in the gen sub-thread)?

Hell-to-the-no, daddy-O.

If you truly want a watch as an investment, go with a Rolex or Patek. They are the only brands that have shown consistent appreciation long term. And with a chunk of change that size, you can get a really, really decent Rolex or Patek. Something along the lines of a four line gilt 5512 or a full gold 1675. Those are watches that will almost certainly increase significantly in value, even within the next five to ten years. But to find a great investment watch, you'll need to do a lot of research. Look at past auction results, community consensus on the model and even the particular example, and most importantly whether or not you like it. Another point is that rarity of a piece on it's own right is generally a better indicator of value than is being rare by "limited edition". However, if want the AP because you like it first and want it as an investment second, then ignore all this and buy it. That's what really matters in the end... well at least it is if you have 40k burning a hole in your pocket and nothing better to spend it on.

Yea, don't think this is an 'investment' you should be going for.

Fair enough. Granted, financial success and knowledge of watches as an income producing asset are definitely not mutually exclusive. Hence why people buy things like Hublot-myfuckingbrainsout. Was that biased enough? :D
