solkryssare 109 Posted May 5, 2011 You live in Paradise my friend. I was actually there some 30 years ago with my mum. Cant remember it my self but she speaks of it constantly. The myth back then was that there were no animals on land seriously harmful to humans. Is that true? Us Scandinavians have to live with views like these:

The only mammals that are natural to Hawaii are the Hawaiian monk seal and a bat. There are some wild pigs/boars that were intoduced but that is about as dangerous as it gets. Also no snakes. peter 0 Posted May 5, 2011 Hey Balad1, I fly into Honolulu in mid October for 4 days. Any tips on where to go? We don't want it too touristy. Cheers Pete
gtwc 1 Posted May 5, 2011 Is this just a cheap, tacky effort to engender sympathy for your sorry way of life? If so, you have succeeded past your wildest expectations !!! You are a lucky fucker - and I don't mean 'cos of the quartz U-boat !!! ps: we may hit the balmy heights of 60-64F here in not-so-sunny Norfolk today........ Balad1 0 Posted May 5, 2011 What about nasty spiders? Yes there are spiders that were introduced through imported products over the years. Nothing to worry about though, nothing like in the movies in jungles, lol.

amuthon 0 Posted May 5, 2011 The U-Boat looks great on that nato, very good choice Balad. (Maratac?) The location is just eye candy and reminds me of my grandpa's saying: "Die dümmsten Bauern ernten die dicksten Kartoffeln." Fortune favors fools.

omni 6 Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) What about nasty spiders? Yes there are spiders that were introduced through imported products over the years. Nothing to worry about though, nothing like in the movies in jungles, lol. Quite right there Ted, not poisonous but still the size of tuna can or your hand.........I'm sure you've experienced a cane spider (brown huntsman) or two over in Kauai climbing up your wall, they not hard to miss and the only spider I know that is heavy enough to give a "thump" sound when it falls on the floor. Yes, we have no snakes, but this is referred to as our "Hawaiian rattlesnake"! Here's a shot from my rear deck, although you can't see at night, I look out at the island of Lanai on the left, Kaahoolawe & Molokini islands on the left out of frame. Yep, shorts, slippers, T-shirt weather all year. Edited May 5, 2011 by omni
