Rolex DayDate “Fat Boy”

Recommended Posts

Svenborg

Hi guys

I’ve been looking for a vintage 18k Day Date from 1970. I have found one advertised on Chrono24. It says it is a Fat Boy. I’m not sure what that means. I expect it is more bulky and maybe has more gold. Maybe it has to do with the glass. Anyone know why it is called the Fat Boy and what size the case is. I asked the seller, but haven’t heard back. I guess it has been holidays.

Cheers

This refers to the wide hands.

Although some websites suggest a Fatboy is the same as a wide boy. And a wide boy is, 'A type of Datejust or Day Date dial with wide stick markers with a wide rectangular surface noted on the top of the larger rectangular marker.'

This is just me googling by the way.
