Thanks...and yes it is quite expensive but it is damn close to the gen and no time bomb, hope you get to have one in the near future.

Has the noob Daytona won yet, or are we all still pretending that a new same old v35 sub is the best yet over an amazing clone movement that was 2 years in R&D and a significant break through. 

End of the day in 2018 2 factories did things no one thought possible. 

ARF gave us 904l steel (and personally as a new factory on the block raised the finish of replicas which is phenomenal) 

Noob gave us a Daytona movement that is so smooth and an exact clone that took 2 years 2 make.

Personally, I'd say the Tudor Black Bay GMT. It's far from a super Rep, I agree, but in terms of excitement at least for that brand and model it was pretty big this year and it was a new model, not just an improved version. That, and I simply cannot stand Daytonas and APs. I don't know why but I think they are some of the ugliest watches out there!

There is no fucking way that the Noob Daytona wins rep of the year just because the movement is good. Maybe if we all had Superman style, x-ray vision and only saw the inside of a watch, it would be in the running. But when there is a thread next door from a Gen owner laughing at how fake the noob looks on the wrist, how unGen like it is, how obviously fake it is - then it's a non starter for rep of the year. Movement of the year? Maybe - the noob and the VSF clone are in the running, but rep of the year? Do fuck off.

Now that we know what most mems feel are the contenders...we can do a poll.

Polls are a fast and fun way to find out what the mems think.

I had to ask because I haven't been active in the hobby and wanted to know what is popular and why.

As Deja said, "factories did things no one thought possible."  That is so true.

I will put together a poll from these results unless someone else chooses to do it.

I bought my brother in law an ARF SD43, that thing was a dead ringer for the gen. True the bezel scallops were a bit sharp (taken care of with the wife’s nail buffer + 1min 45secs of labor)...

The most under-rated rep of the year ... especially the VRF Max Hulk.

VRF Max Hulk still my favourite rep . Very underated as you point out . It just pops on the wrist , wore it to a restaurant last week and I couldn't stop looking at it. Just to add I own many on the 'Super Rep ' list , and if a poll is held I will put money on me owning the top 15 watches voted for  . However I love my MAX Hulk .

If you’re referencing that post on RWI then

lets not forget I had the noob and gen in my possession at the same time.

My friend who owns the gen travels to China multiple times a year to visit his factories and is an avid replica collector like us, I think he enjoys the watches more than the work  and he was blown away by it and agreed it’s very close. 

It’s the best technical achievement of 2018 by a rep factory other than the introduction of the 904l steal. 

The feel of movement when setting the time running the chrono etc is very gen like too. 

No rep is ever 1:1 but un gen is laughable 20 lashes for you @AskGinger for listening to twonks
