Gingerbubba's Collection (and approx Gen value)

Great collection.

You should also do a 'rep value' price as there is probably nearly $5k there. Your missus would be surprised.  :D

Let's see. About 40 watches at, let's say, $20 each (in 'disclosed to wife' prices) = $800. Not much money at all really! Equivalent to one handbag. I should go and buy another 40 at least!

Yeah, that's realistic. They're all 'premium' reps at crazy prices so that's about right - though to be fair, it's money well spent because they almost all feel (and look) like Gen  = a massive saving!!!

And I thought I was a good undervaluer saying 5k.  :D

$800 would just be postage.

I've not got round to working it out yet! I will at some point. Next quiet day in the office.

Actual costs? Lux is about right. For a change.

I have 4 watches and I thought that this is already much, cause I don't know which one to wear. But now I don't know what to say :)

As I can see you have also the SOH II - great choice. I am waiting for GF to come back and I will buy it immediately!

Thanks guys.

This one turned up yesterday, a 'hand built' (ie slightly modded/aged) watch that's currently only available from TSWatch, a non TD here. I've long lusted after a Tripdog build 6542 with bakelite bezel, but at $1500, though he provides an amazing watch for they money, it's more than I'm prepared to pay for a fake watch. When I saw this pop up for sale, I had to give it a go and it's awesome! It's obviously got tells, but for it's price point, it's a lovely watch. TSWatch were decent too, it felt the same as dealing with aTD (perhaps when things go wrong is when they are not so good to deal with), but luckily for me, it went well. They even shipped the watch in a really nice quality, faux leather watch roll!!!! I'm not sure if that's their normal thing or because it's a 'hand built' watch, but either way, it's nice to get it like that. Here are a few snaps, mostly from last night in the dark sadly and a couple this morning as I dashed out in weak morning sunshine.

Link to the watches here for anyone who cares. I got the hand aged $458 version, mostly through laziness:

There's a thread next door about this watch too that's helpful:

Are you started getting into vintage ... now ... you Gingerfuckweasel?

Beautiful watch, BTW.

When I first saw @NCRich and @repmaster1234 bakelite builds, I wanted one. This is a great alternative option comparing to kidnap one of Rich's grayhound and ask for the bakelite build as ransom.

Very nice! Temptation strikes... damn this forum and it’s enabling.

Are you any nearer to calculating the gen value of your miserly collection??

Not really, I've always loved some vintage pieces, particularly loads of Tripdog's bakelite builds, but they're more than I want to pay. And I don't have the skills nor inclination to go down the Rich/Repmaster route. You should buy one of these, then kidnap one of Rich's greyhound - just for fun.

I've almost started counting....

Double Balance Wheel Openworked

Quick Q - For the Double Balance Wheel Openworked watch, does the Double Balance Wheel actually work? Or just a prop?

It works, it's a genuine movement part - but it's a single balance wheel.

If he's selling then it would be on M2M. Otherwise, that sounds like soliciting a backdoor sale.

You’re a spunky young thing.

Don’t cheek the old timers - that road can lead to the serious cunty side of this flypaper for idiots. People get up to all sorts of silliness on here and without a reminder from those who’ve seen it all before we often lose our way.
