mrichbell 0 Posted May 27, 2011 have also received my 177 quality is amazing these were advertised as water proof...is it worth the risk of having a splash about in the pool on holiday or not worth the risk?
Member X 91 Posted May 27, 2011 I wouldn't, not until you can get it pressure tested! I think I read somewhere that one of the new PAMs passed a 200m test (!) so the signs are good, but just in case... Oh, and WHERE IS MINE, TORO?! :( [/noob impatience] :P
jonbon 0 Posted May 28, 2011 have also received my 177 quality is amazing Parts are exquisite, but assembly process of mine leaves a little to be desired, there are marks and dust on the inside of the glass. Would this be a relatively easy task to mend? Caseback, take out movement+dial and clean?
Member X 91 Posted May 28, 2011 It's a relatively easy task! You need: - rubber sticky ball or ball of screwed up duck tape - jeweller's screwdrivers (from tiny to fairly large) - two lint free cleaning cloths, perhaps the cloths used for cleaning spectacles - some rodico (blu-tack would probably work lol) - a shallow pot or jar or dish to store parts in - and I would also recommend a not-too-fluffy white towel or teatowel (to rest the watch on and catch anything you drop ) Use the rubber ball / screwed up duck tape to get the case back off. Get the jeweller's screwdrivers to remove the crownguard and place it in the pot.. Unscrew the stem screw just a turn or two (the tiny screw near where the stem enters the movement) and withdraw the stem and crown. Put it in the pot and screw the screw back in again by the same number of turns. Undo the movement tab screws (careful, mind - they're slippery buggers :P lol) and put the tabs and screws into the pot for safety. Place a lint free cloth over the now free movement and turn the watch over into the palm of your hand. The movement will then drop clear of the case and you can place it in the cloth onto the towel, taking care not to touch the dial. Now you can clean the internals using the other cloth, and you can gently blow any fluff out! Hold the crystal up to the light to check for grease smears Then reverse to refit! (I think that's everything... lol) Use the rodico to stick the movement tabs and screws to the screwdriver when refitting - they're reluctant to play ball and tricky to put back in! :P
