FoxWilde 155 Posted February 20, 2019 So recently finessed this lady in charge of an estate collection to give me one of the watches. Didn’t know anything about it so I paid what the material costed, about $600 the case is 18Kt yellow gold, and what really sold it was the patina. Thing runs like a champ! Keeps about a 20 hours power reserve (not bad for the original Mainspring) and loses about 5 sec/day. Anyways, after doing some research, I contacted Sotheby’s after figuring out more about it. It’s a Universal Geneve Compax Chronograph, from the late 1940s. It has a Türler retailed dial. Türler, a jewelry store much like Tiffany & Co would sign dials on watches sold from their boutique. This one in particular, would estimate an auction price of.... $3000-$6000 USD not bad for a $600 investment. But it is pretty....I might just end up keeping it. thoughts? paccbet 7,176 Posted February 20, 2019 You should look it up cause you could probably build a Speedy with that tricompax. Looks similar to a Lemania

Why would you destroy this beautiful vintage piece? If you want a Speedy, sell this, buy a speedy

Thanks Thommo. Maybe if I end up with a cheapie Lemania or a vintage Omega movement down the road I'd definitely love a Vintage Speedy!

If you are not wearing it and don’t want to keep it, selling it to the right person will get you just about any piece you do desire. I congratulate you on this find
RussP 22,299 Posted February 20, 2019 Not something I'd ordinarily wear (I like my watches like my women:well presented). You could sell it and buy something really nice with the proceeds. But if you don't need the funds, its a moot point.
Luxuracer 14 Posted February 20, 2019 Beautiful watch ... @FoxWilde I need to go to estate sales ... more often
Xpletiv 16 Posted February 20, 2019 What TF was that about using the movement in a build!?!? I'd go back and buy 1 or 2 more of whatever there is and sell those, unless they look nicer(I highly doubt it!) and then take a vacation. ...use the movement in something else...........why we oughta......... Knucklehead.

hanski 40 Posted February 20, 2019 It’s a lovely old watch but not my taste. If it were mine, I’d give it a gentle case/crystal cleanup and look to sell for that $2400+ profit. Very nice find!

I'm still in awe of your haul from that outing....
