Theduke.williams 995 Posted February 27, 2019 Hi All, Looking for a watchsmith / repairer / modder in the UK to replace the crystal on my B&R 123;- Not sure of the factory, but I'm quite certain it runs a Miyota automatic. I've dropped Nick at Watchrepairs UK an email, but have not received a reply after a week. I have heard these watches are prone to breaking their crystals, but to say I have treated this watch gently would be an understatement. Placed it into my watch drawer one day, went to pick it up the next day and the crystal litterally fell off - no bumps or jarring whatsoever! If anyone here knows of a rep friendly repairer who could supply and fit a crystal (preferably saphire if available) I would be very grateful. Thank you all. deju 1,836 Posted February 27, 2019 I think you can get a plexi from cousins! The saphires do this apparently. If you struggle to find someone get a press and a plexi and become a certified tinkerer
Theduke.williams 995 Posted February 27, 2019 Thanks Deju for this suggestion. Thinking a plexi is the way to go with these watches, maybe the domed crystals suffer with thermal stresses? Still think I'll seek expert repair though, as I said, I'm all thumbs when I attempt to repair watches;-
gooner2826 155 Posted February 27, 2019 Just a heads up, replacing a crystal is easier than you think with a press (can pick them up on ebay for £15 ish....) Loads of youtube tutorials, did my first one on a noob no date - was a breeze!
Theduke.williams 995 Posted March 8, 2019 As a follow up to this post I would like to thank everyone who replied, and to say that I now have my B&R 123 back with a nice new plexi installed by none other than Rolie. Yes the shining knight has come to the rescue for another member - Thank You Rolie. Here it is next to my G_Shock which is my current daily beater.;-
