Mendes458 0 Posted March 10, 2019 I have just received an £18 Omega Seamaster Rep. For the price it is excellent. However, after 20 minutes of owning it, the minute and hour hands stopped moving; yet the seconds are still running. I have shot a message to the seller and assume I will get a refund or a replacement. But I'm wondering if a bit of tinkering could get it to work. As it seemed like a bit of an odd situation I wanted to ask some of the more experienced on the for any tips. If not, is it worth switching out the movement and does anyone know what movement it is because I had a look on the internet for cheap Chinese automatic movements and my search has been unsuccessful? Theviking 197 Posted March 10, 2019 Maybe the hour and minute hands have slipped off the Canon pinion (the thing in the middle of the watch face) . It'd be a 10 min job for a watchsmith. Can you take a close up photo of it?
Mendes458 0 Posted March 10, 2019 Thanks for the reply I was hoping it would be something like that and not an internal issue. I have taken a few pics. I'm not too sure what it normally ament to look like. I don't think that it is canon pinion however as I am still able to manually set the watch. I also have a video of the watch
TRANSPORTER 1 Posted March 10, 2019 I’ve seen one of those movements in a cheapie cheapie rep Rolex i had once, I’m pretty sure I’ve still got it somewhere, I’m away this week with work but I know I’m free at the weekend, I’ll have a look and see if there are any marks on it to identify it ok
Mendes458 0 Posted March 10, 2019 That would be greatly appreciated. I took Theviking to advise and moved the hands up the Canon pinion and it is now working. The longevity of the watch will be interesting and I will keep you updated. Thanks for everyone advice.
