Semperfi's First Year Round-up

Recommended Posts

semperfi55

I have decided to do my annual state of the collection in March. I joined on 1 March 2018, weeks after discovering high end replicas. Since then, my journey has been a series of downward spirals into various rabbit holes. My interests have branched out in different directions. Some were expected, some less so.

This is my collection when I first signed up:

40683596064_2330628eca_b.jpg

A balanced collection with watches for any occasion.  Eight would have sufficed for anyone. Indeed, it would have been rather excessive as it were.

One year on, I have more watches, knowledge and experience. All the things I have learnt in the past year can be summed up by this watch:

A Tutima Glashutte WW2 Chronograph homage/replica

TzHz0.jpg

From bidding for the donor watch, hunting for the right parts, designing the dial to printing the dial: all these steps would have been far-fetched a year ago, impossible even. Now, I have an ever-growing list of watches to build, matched with an even bigger pile of watch parts.

I've tried to group the watches into logical categories, but that proved problematic soon enough. A Vostok can be both diver and Soviet. In the end, there is no elegant solution. So here goes:

Divers

Gens, reps, Soviet

The pillows are indeed filled up! The only reason you can see empty pillows is because some categories do not have 12 watches. Otherwise, there is already an overflow pile on the desk...

Just copying the eclectic collectors, Rich ;)

Cheers Russ. Thankfully I had no specific person to buy my reps from en masse. This collection is unwieldy as it is

I’m shocked as well!

Other members have commented on similar binges at the start of their collecting followed by burnout. It may well happen at some point! My wallet will thank me then!

In the meantime, no such luck. You remove one from the buy list, 2 get added on

Nah I started out with 8, then received 10 other as gifts.

And some of the watches appear in multiple pics because they fit in multiple categories, eg the 1963 Chinese chrono fits in the chrono section and also the Chinese section.

Still, it’s a lot for a year

Love the Cartier's and JLC.  Where'd you find the Reverso?  I've had trouble finding one.
