Bassguygt 1 Posted April 18, 2019 Hi all, I have recently procured a nice watch from the Gate that runs about 5 minutes fast over the course of 12 hours or so. Is this something y'all think I could fix with a small adjustment to the movement's internal adjustment lever?
DavidAMcC 1 Posted April 18, 2019 If it is running that fast it might be worth asking a local jewellers or watch service shop to run over the watch with a demagnetiser before moving on the using the regulator adjustment. This takes seconds, is often done for free here in the UK, and will quickly remove one possible reason for a movement running fast. Magnetism can have a dramatic impact on a mechanical movement. It can cause the coils of the hairspring to be drawn into one another, effectively shortening the hairsprings and changing the amplitide of the balance wheel and hairspring assembly (oscilator).
