Cheap NATO's ruined watches for me

Recommended Posts

judas9r

Was always a big fan of chunky steel bracelets, they look great and are usually most convenient for slipping on or of and getting wet. I'd  always scorned NATO straps for their cheap look and general fiddleyness. However, due to a cheap feeling strap on a 5513 I picked up a cheap G10  and guess what?

Damn it!

Now everything is on a NATO! I don't even get on with the premium ones either. It has to be one of those cheap nasty ones. Suddenly find my beloved steel bracelets so unwieldy.

For your Rolex's you should look into some of the gen vintage bracelets or VN 7206 rivet bracelet. A gen 6251 is surprisingly lightweight, thin, and comfortable - plus I like the look of a jubilee with a sub. On the flip side, the VN rep 7206 bracelets are thinner and wear better then a generic Cartel rivet bracelet. Both of these are an investment - like a 10-50x compared with a $10 NATO. But I think it's been well worth it.

I also like Erika's Original MN straps. Nice alternative to a NATO.

Anyways, just my two cents.

Recently been using 19mm natos on a Sub.

Slightly thinner strap feels more vintage, but not as big of a gap as the bond gold finger look.

I heard that there are 2 types of quality for nato. One is thinner and cheaper and the other is thicker and a little bit expensive.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some of the thicker ones mentioned?

Do they come with the Omega logo as I'd actually like one of these:-

You can probably find them on the Gate or Ali Express, but no idea on sellers. You'll have to suss that out for yourself, I'm afraid.

That's the thing - I've looked but can't seem to see anything at the moment.

Some of the descriptions are cryptic though so I'll keep on searching. ;)

Nato is my weekend strap for some Tudors, Rollies and Omega PO's.  Love the casual look and feel.

No doubt Nato could be universal to all watches.
